Growing up, Rebecca Jed spent her summers helping her dad manage his dude ranch in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. It was there on the ranch where she was living the real country lifestyle. With pet buffalos, wolves, dogs, deer, horses and all the city slickers that would visit, every day was a new adventure. She barrel raced in local rodeos, led snake hunts and guided trail rides. This is the world her first source of inspiration comes from in her music, and the environment was a colorful one…
During the winter months away from the ranch, Rebecca lived on her family farm in Texas along with her four sisters, attending what she thought of as a snobby school and taking singing lessons throughout her school years. Her singing led her to performing at churches, state fairs, and talent shows and by the time she was twelve she started learning to play guitar on a crummy sounding acoustic she managed to buy from a local pawnshop with her saved lunch money. Just as soon as the day Rebecca turned 18 she followed her heart and hit the road, leaving the farm life behind in pursuit of her dreams to be a country star. She headed out west performing her music in coffee shops and honkytonks throughout Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and California finally making home of Nashville, TN where she now resides.
Rebecca recorded and produced her debut CD “Pearl Handle Pistol” at Larkin Sound in 2006. This first collection of songs being a showcase of her soulful journey of life lessons and experience she lived and learned along the path to Nashville. Jed’s music has been produced in a way that captures a western soundscape, bringing her words to life with its pure and all inspiring musical production. Songs “Train Track Beat” and “Lover” have become signature tracks for Jed’s upbeat throwback bluegrass style with their groove and haunting atmosphere. “No country record collection is complete without Rebecca Jed’s “Pearl Handle Pistol”. It’s a staple of what folks these days consider “Real country”. It’s the way country music use to be and the way it should still be… untarnished, believable and lived.” –Earl Clifton (Earl Clifton Radio) Jed’s second full-length album “Wild and Free” was recorded at the legendary Jack Clements Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa in Nashville and is scheduled for release this December.
The new album offers up twelve more musical adventures and already tracks “Wild and Free”,” Indian Girl”, and “Old Western Movie” have become fan favorites for Rebecca’s web audience, and show patrons! R.I.Y.L. Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells Rebecca Jed is surely making a name for herself in Music city.
She practices her song writing craft on a daily basis and performs her music with house bands on a weekly schedule.
