Join the Nashville Civic Design Center, old friends and new friends as we welcome special guest Michael Maher, AICP, and Director of the Charleston Civic Design Center.  Share beer and barbeque at Neuhoff with topic: Bicycle Infrastructure: Putting Mettle to the Pedal.

Bicycles aren’t just for fun; more and more, they’re a primary means of transportation. In order for our communities to effectively embrace this cultural shift, cities and sites need to plan to develop comprehensive bicycling infrastructure that is both integrated and hierarchical.  If bicycling is going to be a serious transportation option for people, we need to develop bicycle infrastructure that provides the same type of hierarchy that has made our automotive network so useful and so efficient. Primary • Secondary • Tertiary is a model that recognizes this necessity, and proposes to demonstrate a comprehensive model of bicycle infrastructure that embraces bicycling from the regional scale to the individual building site.

“Jazz, Beer and Barbeque” also celebrates the launch of NCDC’s recent Membership Campaign. The event is free for members of the NCDC and $10 for guests.
