Sunday, October 2 at 7pm, NJW's Contemporary Jazz Series is proud to present multi grammy award-winning artist and saxophone master Jeff Coffin.

Join Jeff (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Dave Matthews), as he joins forces with the trio of Roger Spencer (bass), Bill Altvater (piano), andDale Armstrong (drums) for an evening of creative improvisation with "no rules." Well, almost no rules -- all material will be standard tunes, but bent, twisted, arranged, or deranged in whatever way the group sees fit. See what happens when a group of master jazz musicians takes off their seat belts!

Tickets are general admission, no reserved seating.

About the series: The Contemporary Jazz Series, hosted by Rahsaan Barber, is designed to present new, original, and cutting edge jazz that may not have been heard before in the Jazz Cave. Describing "contemporary jazz," series host Rahsaan Barber explained that "just as the jazz of Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie was influenced by musicians’ and audiences’ affinities for the blues of Beale Street and the bright lights of Broadway, so it is with contemporary jazz, which draws much influence from more modern strains of American music -- including funk, gospel, hip hop -- and more international 'cargo,' including Indian ragas, Cuban descargas and European classical music."
