Add Review/Comment
The Heroes of Business Speaker Series, sponsored by the Lipscomb University College of Business, will feature The Honorable David A. Sampson, former deputy secretary of commerce during President George W. Bush’s administration and a Lipscomb University alumnus, in a free public talk at the College of Business chapel service on Oct. 6. Sampson will offer perspectives to the students, faculty and the public based on his long experience in the corporate, public and higher education sectors.
Sampson is now president and chief executive officer of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI), which represents more than 1,000 homeowners, auto and business insurance companies that write 37.4 percent of the nation’s property and casualty insurance.
Prior to joining PCI in 2007, Sampson served in the Bush Administration in two positions. Most recently, he was the deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the department’s chief operating officer. Sampson traveled worldwide to promote opportunities for U.S. companies during his tenure as deputy secretary, and he saw firsthand the interconnectedness of the American and global economies. Previously, Sampson served as assistant secretary of commerce for economic development.
