Faculty and Friends Concert Series Presents Grant Dalton

Dr. Grant Dalton is professor of percussion studies at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., and director of the Samford Percussion Ensemble and Samford Steel, the university’s steel drum band. Dalton received his bachelor’s in music education at Lipscomb University and his master’s and doctorate of music degrees at The Ohio State University.

Dalton is a frequent percussionist with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, and he is the percussionist for the Birmingham Broadway Series and Broadway Across America. He also periodically performs with the Alabama Ballet, Opera Birmingham and the Birmingham Art Music Alliance. Dalton is the president of the Alabama chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, and he regularly hosts the Alabama Day of Percussion.
