Toward springtime, GroundWorks presents the premiere production of Unconditional, written by Nashville playwright Myra Stephens, running March 2-10. Unconditional is the story of a mother and daughter who love each other, unconditionally, no matter what. And “what” is the worst kind of trouble. They’re living on the streets, under the “el” in Chicago, a world that can be as full of good neighbors as your neighborhood or mine. We see the best and worst, the selfless old man who freely gives what little he owns, the broken down teacher who can still teach with the best of them and the denizens we expect to see on the streets and are somehow surprised to see anywhere in our world. Come see how good we can be when we have nothing, how caring and smart and loving human beings can be, even when the chips are down.
