Cory Batten was born in 1974, graduated from university of arizona in 1996 with a degree in psychology, moved to nashville in 1998, moved back to nashville in 2000, wrote two songs that reached no.1 on the country music charts ("she wouldn't be gone" BLAKE SHELTON, and "gettin' you home" CHRIS YOUNG. Cut sides for record labels for his own artist deal in 2010. Currently pitching project.
The BOY WONDER BLUES BAND rocks the house! Built around 14 year old guitar prodigy Johnny Reno Prentice, this combo combines chops, energy, and infatuation with experience, wisdom, reverence and groove. This rare and wonderful combination of youthful vigor and seasoned mastery results in a musical juggernaut that must be seen and heard to be believed. The music is carefully chosen and lovingly but relentlessly executed, leaving a crowd gasping for breath while begging for more.
Johnny Reno Prentice's pedigree runs deep. He is the child of Grammy winning record producer (Elvis Costello, Fairfield Four), prolific session musician and songwriter Mark Prentice, who plays bass in the band, and world renowned singer Michelle Nicolo Prentice. At 14, and although he has only been playing less than three years, John has already wowed crowds and gained hundreds of fans in the Nashville scene. His playing has come to the attention and fallen under the tutelage of many of Nashville's top session guitarists. Even at this early age, he is in demand for many music projects and is an active songwriter with his band KILL THE DEAD.
The BOY WONDER BLUES BAND features one of Johnny's best friends and mentors, the amazing C.C. Miller. C.C. is the consummate entertainer. His potent and powerful career spans nearly four decades, paying his dues with 35 years on the road - 250-300 days a year. C.C. has recorded 5 albums on Warner Brothers Records, both as a solo artist and with the World Famous Dynatones. C.C. has performed with Big Joe Turner, James Brown, Steve Cropper, B.B. King, Albert Collins, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Spinners, Jr. Walker, Billy Preston, Carla Thomas, Etta James, Mary Wells, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Rondstadt, Bruce Springsteen, Hall and Oates, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Tower of Power.
The band also leans on the skill and experience of legendary guitarist Mike Severs, whose diverse and extensive resume includes number one records with Dolly Parton, Alabama and Kenny Chesney, and pop & rock credits with Brian and Carl Wilson, Paul Simon, Steve Winwood, & Felix Cavaliere.
BOY WONDER is rounded out on deep pocket drums by John's older brother Matt Bubel, a rising star drummer/producer/songwriter whose credits at 23 years of age already include Larry Carlton, Ben E. King, Felix Cavaliere, Kenny Rogers, Darius Rucker, Billy Currington and new Country sensation Kip Moore.
Once in a very great while, certain elements come together with such amazing synergy that the end result is undeniable. The BOY WONDER BLUES BAND is just such a phenomenon. For audiences of all ages and backgrounds, the sights and sounds are irresistible, and the result is an experience that will never be forgotten.
