    Jay Song:  Spectator

    Metal/Mixed Media

This work attempts to re-focus the everyday encounters of our interaction with each other and remind us the dismissal of everyday life. The main material, Han-Ji, used as door and window screen paper which can last over 1,000 years, to reflect the layers of simplicity and complexity of everyday life.

The pieces in the exhibition are not outright narratives, though they suggest a quietness that is, at its essence, personal. These works are not meant to isolate specific meanings, but rather suggest a moment of thought where stillness, beauty, and illumination can peacefully coexist. The exhibition is composed of wall installations and sculptural jewelry that contains suggestion of wearability.
