"Mending Limbs Organization” was founded in 2008 by Michelle and Jared Prichard. This organization is bringing awareness to the lack of adequate insurance coverage for children and adults who are in need of prosthetic limbs due to a birth defect, traumatic accident or disease related amputation. Mending Limbs Organization is working with Tennessee State Legislators and the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) to pass the Parity Act which mandates better prosthetic insurance coverage. Only 19 states have passed the act and Tennessee is not one of them. Michelle Prichard has been an outspoken and respected advocate. She was invited to speak at a Center for Disease Control (CDC) National Birth Defects Convention in Nashville, TN and then at the CDC’s Joint Partners Meeting at the headquarters in Atlanta, GA both in 2009. She is working with the ACA, TN legislators, Bulow Biotech Prosthetics and is supported by former TN Senator Bill Frist. Mending Limbs partnered with Bulow Biotech Prosthetics at the end of 2010 to work hand in hand in assisting amputees with the funding and servicing of prosthetics for amputees that do not have adequate prosthetic coverage.

The event is made possible through the generosity of Sponsors: Bosco’s Stoney River, Brinkmanns’ Wine and Spirits, Robertson Design, Sweet Temptations, Southwest Airlines, Fidelity, Jim Beam.
