Jason A. Saunders is a graduate of David Lipscomb University, in Nashville, Tennessee. There he began his painting career under the tutelage of accomplished painter Dawn E. Whitelaw.

During and after college, with the encouragement of Mrs. Whitelaw, Jason was fortunate to be accepted to study with world renowned painter, Everett Raymond Kinstler. There, Jason began to grasp the importance of his journey ahead. After a short bout with portraiture, Jason decided to focus his concentration on studying landscape painting. There he found a place where he felt he could best grow his talent.

In 1997, Jason, began to persistently pursue plein air painting. He studied briefly with Arizona artist Matt Smith, who gave him great instruction and encouragement. Knowing the next step in his growth as a painter was to work, Jason began to paint.

As a few years passed, Jason decided to search out new information. He searched out an artist that had captured his attention several times before, Scott Christensen. In 2001, Jason, attended Scott’s class and a whole new understanding of painting began to unfold. A great friendship was established and the bar was raised. Jason enjoys the constant challenges painting brings him. With the encouragement of his mentors, collectors, and his family, Jason, is excited about his journey.

Jason is a member of Oil Painters of America, Tennessee Art League, The Chestnut Group, and a founding member of The Cumberland Society.
