Women and Incarceration in Tennessee
Almost 1200 women are incarcerated in state prisons in Nashville and Memphis. Tennessee has seen a steady growth in its female inmate population for the past twenty years and the rate of growth is expected to surpass that of male inmates in the coming years. Join our speaker, Kathy Masulis, Executive Director of Better Decisions, a one-on-one mentoring program for incarcerated women, as she shares her experiences of working with female offenders in Nashville for the past two decades. Learn about a program that has taught over 1400 incarcerated women how to make better decisions and ways that you can get involved.
Table Talk for Women, a lunchtime discussion group that focuses on issues that are important to women, features a different speaker for each session. The program brings women together across racial, religious and cultural lines to listen, learn and converse with one another.
Cost is $12 and lunch is included. To register online, visit www.scarrittbennett.org/programs/tt.aspx or call 615-340-7557 or email aelliott@scarrittbennett.org.
