Rare Janis Joplin Tribute Hits Town “Buried Alive in the Blues” Comes to Nashville
Few singers even bother to try and emulate the late, great Janis Joplin – her voice and stage persona was so unique that there are not many who can attempt the immense range and emotion of one of the defining singers of all time. Kat Bowser is different. Her incredible range and diversity has kept her in session and touring work her entire career (Tony Bennett, Oleta Adams, Jon Secada) and she also is also busy working on a new Broadway/Hollywood review show and album for 2012. Now, she’s backed by some of Nashville’s premier players, including Don Carr (The Oak Ridge Boys), Michael Webb (John Fogerty, LeAnn Rimes), Steve Ebe (The Long Players), Mark Hornsby (The Judds, Nick D'Virgilio, Jon Anderson), John Hinchey (Kirk Franklin, The Funk Brothers, Sara Evans), just to name a few. Kat Bowser comments: “It’s always a thrill to sing Janis. She was such a profound character that, like too many, went well before her time. Since 2010 marked the 30 year anniversary of her passing, I can’t think of a more appropriate way to bring in the New Year than a show that pays tribute to her, her life and her music."
