Each year, Nashvillians gather for one special evening featuring a gourmet food and unforgettable song at the Nashville Opera Guild’s La Bella Notte. Inspired by Nashville Opera’s 2012 productions and original sketches of Venice by renowned architect Earl Swensson, chairperson Anita Greenwood Cash and her committee members selected the theme of “Viva Venezia!” for the annual black-tie dinner.La Bella Notte will be held at the Hilton Downtown Nashville Hotel on Saturday, January 28, 2012 beginning at 6:30pm. The annual event is the Nashville Opera Guild’s largest fundraiser, with proceeds supporting educational initiatives including the Nashville Opera On Tour outreach performances throughout Middle Tennessee, and Nashville Opera’s Mary Ragland Young Artist Program. Executive Chef Matt Simonds has created a gourmet menu which includes a selection of wines with each course. The Mary Ragland Young Artist Program (MRYAP) members, who are also in the cast of Nashville Opera’s upcoming production of Puccini’s The Girl of the Golden West, will provide entertainment- which often includes plenty of audience participation- between courses. The program offers developing professional singers valuable performance experience in Nashville Opera productions. This year’s Mary Ragland Young Artists include soprano Stacy Dove, mezzo-soprano Beth Lytwynec, tenor Eldric Bashful, and baritone Samus Haddad. Guests will be invited to participate in the silent auction featuring an impressive mix of jewelry, luxury items and exotic travel packages. The Nashville Opera Guild selected Elizabeth Papel, Nashville Opera’s Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors, as the honorary chair. Tickets are $300 per person and available by calling Nashville Opera at (615) 832-5242 or online at www.nashvilleopera.org  and www.LaBellaNotte.org.

The highlight of La Bella Notte is the presentation of the Francis Robinson Award. For their dedication and unwavering support of Nashville Opera, the Nashville Opera Guild selected the Judy Liff and Joe Barker Family as the 2012 recipients of the organization’s highest honor. Established in 2005, the Francis Robinson Award is presented annually to deserving recipients who exemplify leadership and support of opera throughout Middle Tennessee.

New for 2012, tickets to La Bella Notte will also include the La Bella Notte After Party which will immediately follow the dinner. Guests will enjoy music for listening and dancing by well-known musicians playing original hits, familiar standards and favorites. A limited number of tickets to the La Bella Notte After Party are available separately for $50 per person (Complimentary with La Bella Notte Reservation.) and can be purchased online at http://www.nashvilleopera.org/La_Bella_Notte.html
