Experience a taste of Japanese culture and celebrate the coming of Spring at the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival.

The 2012 Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is a family-friendly, daylong celebration of Japanese culture in the heart of Music City. Cherry blossoms, or sakura, have been a symbol of U.S.-Japan friendship since the Mayor of Tokyo donated 3,000 cherry trees to Washington, D.C., in 1912. Today, cherry blossom festivals, or sakura matsuri, are celebrated every spring all over the United States. This year marks the centennial celebration of this gift to our nation’s capital.

The Nashville Cherry Blossom festival will begin with the Sakura Walk led by Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and Consul General of Japan at Nashville Hiroshi Sato. The festival will feature a musical showcase, tea ceremony, origami, a CosPlay contest, Japanese food booths and more!

The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is organized by the Japan-America Society of Tennessee, the Office of Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and the Consulate-General of Japan.
