Poet’s Corner at Scarritt-Bennett Center, a monthly poetry reading, will feature poet Gayle S. Hutchinson on Thursday, December 22.

Hutchinson has chosen the lyrical name Chamuputuri Chitema, “strong black wind” in the language of Zimbabwe’s Shona people, to signature her two visual poetry collections of original love poems, “some EASY+ pieces, a love puzzle,” a special edition published in 2005, and “These Final Pieces,” scheduled for later 2011 release. These works are dedicated to a love affair with her most inspirational muse; a soul mate mystically named Easy who actually pursued her for 30 years and who is 30 years her senior. Easy’s characterization symbolically makes him anyone’s love and makes the poetry collections potentially embraceable to all readers. She is currently writing a creative non-fiction work about sex and another poetry collection.
