David Mead will be performing at The Basement in Nashville, TN on January 20th with Harper Blynn in support of his brand new album, Dudes. Track 9 off the new album, "The Smile of Rachael Ray," was recently featured as NPR's Song of the Day on December 14th. The glowing review of the song garnered positive attention from Rachel Ray herself who tweeted, "I am blown away by @davidmeadtwits. The Rachael Ray Christmas Carol was song of the day on @NPRnews! Didn't hear it until now. Still crying." Mead has also received positive attention recently from pop country star, Taylor Swift who tweeted, "“I have ‘Nashville’ by David Mead stuck in my head” and went on to cover Mead's song several nights on her last US tour and has included it on her most recent Live DVD.

Given that David Mead recorded Dudes as a communal effort, it’s not surprising that it’s populated by character portraits, examinations and stories of, well, mostly dudes. There are spunky retirees, a CIA recruit, a befuddled lover, an armed lackwit, and on the title track – an homage to the best guy friends of all – dudes themselves. Mead, known for his wicked wit and “honeyed and compelling vocal” (Entertainment Weekly), began his sixth album quite unexpectedly, taking an unusual path to make Dudes, released on November 15, 2011.
