Their name, Montana Skies, is a metaphor for musical freedom, and they continue to follow their creative instincts far beyond traditional boundaries. In concert, these award winning musicians delve into music from Pink Floyd and Rush to Vivaldi, and House of the Rising Sun, as well as their own originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Travel Channel. Montana Skies seemingly non-stop tour schedule has taken them all across the US as well as to Canada, Asia, and Russia; and their dedication to their musical vision has helped them build an enthusiastic grassroots fan base along the way. Combining elements of classical technique, jazz improv and the power and energy of rock n' roll; Jonathan's guitar wizardry and Jenn's blazing electric cello combine to create a sound that is truly remarkable. While the music defies simple categorization, it is a fusion in the truest sense of the word. It's been called everything from chamber rock to psychedelic strings.
Hear them live at The Listening Room, 6:00pm.
Chris Carpenter plays at 8:00pm. As an ASCAP songwriter and publisher, his autobiographical song, “One and Only,” was in the top 10 most-viewed videos on MTVU.com. Most recently, Carpenter competed in the “Freshman 5” competition and successfully came in second place -- but still holds the #1 spot of getting the “most plays” for his video. Carpenter’s music is currently featured on mtvmusic.com, cmt.com, gactv.com (Great American Country) and mtvu.com (the college-edition of MTV). Furthermore, “One and Only” has been featured in the soap-opera, “Young and the Restless.” His song, “We’ll Never Know” has also made an appearance on “Men of a Certain Age.” To top this off, Carpenter’s musical talent landed him an eight-song spot on the online-reality show, “Hallo Hollywood". His latest single, “Paralyzed”, an up-tempo-anthem, has just been released and is now posted on youtube.com/chriscarpentermusic1 and mtvmusic.com.
