Songs can be a lens to focus on where we are and where we're going. They're the soundtrack of our lives, marking important events and deep memories, easing tedious and difficult times.

In looking at the make up of "Signpost", one theme becomes clear: the biggest story in life starts with taking action.

Each song has a dimension of taking action (or in some cases, not taking action), from the viewpoint of characters and caricatures John creates.

We perceive music on many levels - you might call them "raw sound, rhythm, melody, and lyrics"; there are other definitions out there, of course - and John works to meld all those layers in his music.
