About 23 Years Without War Since 1000 AD
Looking back into history to the year 1000, we count 23 years of peace in the world. In the remaining 989 years, one or more wars have been taking place at any given time. To us peace is the normal state of being. But peace is a state of absence – the absence of strife and discord – the absence of war. To have an exhibition about peace is impossible without also addressing war. As we approach the tenth year since the beginning of the U.S. involvement in the wars of the Middle East, gallery F. @ Scarritt-Bennett considers some perspectives on peace and war.
Participants in this exhibit are adult and child artists and writers. Viewpoints are included from the U.S., Canada and Uganda.
