Killer Nashville is proud to announce our 2012 Guests of Honor: New York Times bestselling mystery and thriller author C.J. Box and legendary horror and thriller author Peter Straub.

C.J. Box is the author of thirteen novels, including several standalone thrillers and a popular series featuring heroic park ranger Joe Pickett. A Wyoming native and avid outdoorsman, Box uses his knowledge of the great outdoors to bring his books to life. He has won the Edgar Alan Poe Award for Best Novel, (Blue Heaven, 2009) as well as the Anthony Award, the Macavity Award, the Gumshoe Award, the Barry Award, and the 2010 Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association Award for fiction. He is an internationally published author whose books have won awards in Ireland and France and been translated into 25 languages. He has also received acclaim for his short stories, which have been featured in America’s Best Mystery Stories of 2006 and limited-edition printings.

Peter Straub is the author of more than 17 novels, several poetry and short story collections, seven novellas, and a collection of nonfiction essays. Although he is most famous for his work in the horror genre, he has also received acclaim for his poems, literary novels, and thrillers. One of the century’s most honored horror writers, he has received numerous literary awards, including the World Fantasy Award and the International Horror Guild Award. Straub’s first novel, Marriages, was published in 1973, but it was his fifth, Ghost Story, that catapulted onto the national bestseller lists and made him a household name. Stephen King, with whom Straub collaborated on two fantasy novels, called Ghost Story one of the best horror novels of the latter half of the 20th century. Straub’s most recent thriller, A Dark Matter, was released in February, 2010 and won a Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel.

Straub and Box will each do a one-hour interview or presentation, along with a book signing and a presentation at the Guest of Honor/Awards banquet, joining the ranks of past Killer Nashville Guests of Honor Carol Higgins Clark, Michael Connelly, J.A. Jance, Body Farm creator Dr. Bill Bass, Jeffery Deaver, Donald Bain, and Robert Dugoni.

Held annually on the weekend surrounding the fourth Saturday in August, Killer Nashville was created in 2006 to bring together forensic experts, writers, and fans of crime and thriller literature. Killer Nashville will be held on August 24-26, 2012 at Nashville’s five-star Hutton Hotel.
