    Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, and Butch Hancock have been friends for almost forty years and collectively make up the country-rock trio, The Flatlanders.

    Originally formed in Lubbock, Texas in 1972, the band reunited in 1998 and has been recording and touring ever since including contributions to the soundtrack of the 1998 film, The Horse Whisperer.

    Its core members have had successful solo careers in musical genres including Texas Country, Honky-Tonk, Western swing and folk. Together as The Flatlanders, their collective style is a lively, inventive blend of these.
