Tom Sawyer
April 4-April 20, 2008
On April 4, some of the best loved literary characters of 19th century rural America come to life when Circle Players Community Theatre presents the stage version of Mark Twain's classic "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer".
The production will feature a stage adaptation of the book by Murfreesboro playwright Mike Parker, who uses Mark Twain as a narrator to tell the tale of mischievous Tom, who'd rather go fishing with his buddy Huck Finn than sit in a stuffy schoolhouse or bible school. The audience will witness Tom's adventures which include playing pirate, kissing a girl, and on a more sinister note, witnessing a murder.

Good community theater can't be beat, and really great community theater is an awesome experience. Such is the case with the Circle Players' current production of Oliver!. This beloved musical is a classic, and it's one of the best shows to grace the Circle Players' stage. Director Clay Hillwig rounded up a talented cast of local players who deliver a fun and wonderful experience you need to share with your family. Wes Richardson does a great job playing the starring role of Oliver Twist, and to grasp the British accent at such a young age is a feather in this boy's cap. He also has a sweet singing voice that's almost angelic at times when he hits those high falsetto notes. It's endearing, and appropriate, given the upheaval in his character's life. Collapse

Don't miss "Oliver!", even if you've seen the show before. The music and singing is just plain fun, the cast energetic and little "Oliver" is adorable.

Great energy in this cast of teens and twens. Very enjoyable production, even though the plot is kind of lame. Overall, the stage production is much better than the movie!

There are some amazingly talented people in this cast. The actor who portrays Ren is certainly a triple threat and Rusty absolutely steals the show with great comedic timing and a splendid voice. The script itself is lacking and the show has far too many poignant moments. However, it is a fun show with some great numbers, particularly "Mama Says." Collapse
