Add Review/CommentThis all female West African Djembe Orchestra will share their talents on the drums that speak the language of the ancient traditions of the Great Mali Empire. Once reserved for men, the voice of the djembe will sing out the new-found freedom of these dynamic young women as they display the power and finesse of female percussionists. This group will be in residence at the Global Education Center for an entire week offering workshops and performances at the Center and in area schools. This exciting weekend is made possible with funding from the Southern Arts Federation in cooperation with National Endowment for the Arts and Tennessee Arts Commission and by the CBRL Foundation.
