Add Review/CommentThe Parthenon is pleased to present local painter Tony Teal in the West Gallery. This East Nashville artist finds inspiration in his neighborhood and its diverse residents. The few small blocks surrounding his house provide his subject matter, resulting in portraits, city views, and botanicals that offer glimpses of his eclectic neighborhood. The portraits include a fifty-something Caucasian woman named Susan; Jason, a fresh young teenager; Sister Right, who teaches the community about AIDS; and Dwayne and Nathan, an African-American same-sex couple. Teal renders his subjects in a straightforward manner, using bold, flat planes of color.
