Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art opens its gates free to the public in celebration of the fall season and new exhibitions on view at Cheekwood. During the special 'free days,' guests will have lots of choices for exploring both indoors and out. Just opened exhibitions will include: Scarecrows, The inaugural Scarecrows features over 40 fabulous, weird, funny and traditional scarecrows lurking along the paths of Cheekwood's Botanical Garden. A Genius for Place: American Landscapes of the Country Place Era, Highlighting seven country estates still open to the public in breathtaking photographs, this exhibition places the history of Cheekwood into the larger context of the Country Place Era. Temporary Contemporary, David Lefkowitz: Oblivious to Place, In this installation local artist David Lefkowitz explores the uneven development of architecture in the landscape and encourages people to question the function of the space around them. Video Installation, Open Call: Emerging Video Artists, Video artists from around the world submitted over 200 works to be judged by curators, artists, and art historians associated with the museum. Seven finalists were selected and many of the works feature nature as a visual device to be explored for artistic purposes.
