Exhibition featuring works by artists Sharon Charney, Kathryn Detwiller and Irene Witter, plus ongoing outdoor sculpture by Tom Rice. Brenda McSurley, Centennial Art Center's Director describes the exhibit as "dramatic" and "handsome," speaking "to many people on many levels." Debuting at Kiss, Sharon Charney's latest body of work features self-portraiture. When asked about her journey as an artist, Charney shares, "I believe that artists create whatever they do to say to the world, 'Here I am.'" Kathryn Dettwiller's most recent works are executed in encaustic, which involves stirring pigments into molten beeswax and damar resin to make paint. Detwiller says, "The molten encaustic was free-flowing, and it allowed a spontaneous exploration of form and color." Dedicated to fine craftsmanship, artist Irene Ritter describes her own work as being "delineated in two styles: meditative abstract assemblages and figurative work. My figures enter genderless space and lean more toward stylization and abstraction." Exhibit runs through November 30, 2007.
