Inspired by mythology, Maureen McCabe creates exquisite assemblages, mostly in shadow boxes, that incorporate ancient myth, astrology, the cosmos, and otherworldly themes, grounding them in contemporary culture through the use of puns and witticisms. For this exhibition, McCabe is making a new series of objects, drawing inspiration directly from Nashville's Parthenon. Exhibition runs through 1/12/08.

I went to Centennial Park last year to check out the Big Band Dances. They are really fun! It's more fun if you bring a date to dance with, but if not, you're bound to meet someone to dance with. I would go every single Saturday, but my husband doesn't get off work until after 9:00. I only wish they would switch up the days. Maybe Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. It's really fun, though. Live swing band, huge dance floor, free lessons. Free admission! Parking wasn't too bad either when I went. Give it a try! Collapse

I love going to the weekly Swing dances in Nashville! It is a great way to spend an evening and an even better way to touch up on your Swinging skills. Even if you are not an avid Swing dancer, you'll be sure to enjoy watching others and listening to some of Music City's finest musicians. And best of all, it's free! Don't miss another Saturday.
