NaFF has announced New Awards: Thanks to new sponsored awards totaling over $6000 in cash prizes, filmmakers now have even more opportunities to compete for unique and diverse awards that really pay off. NaFF extends its final deadline to give filmmakers a chance to submit films qualifying for these (and all other) NaFF awards. New Awards The Golden Opportunity Award for the best college student narrative short. Sponsored by Vanderbilt University - $1000 cash award. Best Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgendered (LGBT) Film Award for the best film, in any category, with LGBT content. $1000 cash award. Lonely Seal Releasing Award for best narrative feature, selected by Lonely Seal Releasing. $1000 cash prize plus option of international representation for one year. Rosetta Miller-Perry Award for the best film, in any category, by a Black Filmmaker. $1000 cash award. Tennessee Independent Spirit Award for Best Short-Form Film acknowledges the best short-form film (any category) made by a Tennessee resident. Sponsored by the Tennessee Film, Music, and Entertainment Commission - $1000 cash award. Tennessee Independent Spirit Award for Feature-Length Film, acknowledges the best feature-length film made by a Tennessee resident. Sponsored by the Tennessee Film, Music, and Entertainment Commission - $1000 cash award. Each year, NaFF receives submissions of over 1700 films from all over the world. Last year, 215 films from 44 countries were selected. NaFF provides the only opportunity to see many of these films in this region of the U.S. Because it takes place in "Music City," the Nashville Film Festival places special focus on music in films with its "Music Films in Music City" section and two special music awards. Additionally, NaFF has special sections for local film screenings, gay & lesbian films, and young filmmakers age 18 and under. Regular Deadline: Oct. 26, 2007 Extended Deadline: Nov. 30, 2007 To download a PDF of the Nashville Film Festival application, click here.
