Plans for this fabulous twentieth anniversary event are underway. Ballet Ball 2009 is influenced by legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp's piece "Sinatra Suite." The romantic dance is set to a medley of Frank Sinatra songs and will be performed by Nashville Ballet during the Winter Series. Ballet Ball 2009 will feature the sophisticated color scheme of black, bone, platinum, and "Sinatra blue." And, of course, the night wouldn't be complete without Pat Patrick and his best Sinatra crooner serenading guests throughout the evening.

In 1998, The Women's Fund held its first fundraising event, The Power of the Purse Luncheon. The event and its accompanying Tribute Book are intended to celebrate, honor, and inspire the mothers and daughters, sisters and cousins, friends and mentors, and community leaders of Middle Tennessee for, among other things, their accomplishments, generosity, love and wisdom. The success of the event has contributed to the overwhelming growth of The Women's Fund and the availability of more grant dollars for non-profit programs benefiting women and girls. Since its inception in 1998, the The Power of the Purse Luncheon and Tribute Book for have raised over $1,000,000 for The Women's Fund.

The Interfaith Dental Clinic is proud to announce the date of our 2009 Spring Gala, Soiree for Smiles!

The event will be held on March 28, 2009 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This year's event, chaired by Mrs. Kathy Reynolds, promises to be an evening full of elegance and excitement. The event will include cocktails, a gourmet dinner, live auction, mystery boxes and dancing. All proceeds from the gala will benefit the Interfaith Dental Clinic, a non-profit organization founded to restore, protect and improve the oral health of uninsured low-income, employed persons, their children and the elderly in the greater Nashville area through access to affordable quality dental care, oral disease prevention services and oral health education. The Interfaith dental clinic provided over $2,000,000 in patient services in 2007-2008 and recorded over 7,043 patient visits. The clinic relies on the generous donations of individuals, churches and foundations to subsidize the cost of delivering this care.

The Del McCoury Band is a Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band. Originally Del McCoury and the Dixie Pals with Del on guitar and his brother Jerry on bass, the band went through a number of changes until the 1980s when the band solidified its line-up, adding McCoury's sons, Ronnie and Robbie on mandolin and banjo, respectively. In 1988, the "Dixie Pals" name was dropped in favor of the current name. Fiddler Tad Marks and bass player Mike Brantley joined in the early 1990s while the band became a national touring act. In 2004 they were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for It's Just the Night, and in 2006 they won that category for The Company We Keep.

Richter Gallery is pleased to bring this important artist and exhibition to Nashville. In his forward to Jazz, Giants and Journeys: The Photography of Herman Leonard, Quincy Jones, wrote, "When people think of jazz, their mental picture is likely one of Herman's." In addition to the internationally known Jazz photographs, this exhibit will also feature Herman Leonard's rarely seen fashion work and behind-the-scenes photographs of such legends as Dizzy Gillespie, Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. "I wanted to do with light what artists do with a line sketch, show the whole character," said Herman in an interview with Departures Magazine. And that is what Herman has done over his entire lifetime and continues to do at the age of 85. He elevated music photography into an art form. His use of lighting, atmosphere and a spirituality of sorts cannot be found elsewhere. Therefore it is only fitting that Herman will be presented with the Lucie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Portraiture in October of this year.

Exhibition Reception with the Artist: Saturday, November 8, 6:00pm-10:00pm in conjunction with Artrageous.

Alive Hospice presents All Things Beaded & Beyond, a craft sale benefiting Hospice in the West (Alive Hospice's 'Sister Hospice'). The sale features handmade items for sale including jewelry, cards, knits, photography and much more!

Hospice in the West, located in the West Rand, Guateng, South Africa, was created in 1990 by a small church group which provided care to patients diagnosed with cancer, HIV, AIDS, and motor neuron disease. They offer free patient care, while dealing with extremely limited resources and the growing AIDS epidemic.

Alive Hospice became the 'sister hospice' of Hospice in the West through a partnership program, Foundation for Hospices in Sub-Saharan Africa (FHSSA). This program matches U.S. organizations with similar African programs in Sub-Saharan Africa to foster idea-sharing, educational opportunities, professional exchanges, and learning experiences for both programs.

Tom Waits, according to the esteemed American critic Robert Hilburn, is clearly one of the most important figures of the modern pop era. Such sentiments are not mere hyperbole; in a career that now spans four decades and over 20 albums, Tom Waits has long since emerged as an extraordinary innovative force, a singular voice whose music remains determinedly and even gloriously - well beyond the trivial fads and fashions of popular culture. Waits latest release, the 3CD set Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards adds further weight to that stellar reputation.
