The Alex LeVasseur Memorial Scholarship Program presents Jeffrey Steele and Friends, an intimate evening with Jeffrey Steele and various music artists at Rocketown. All proceeds from the event benefit the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Scholarship Program, which helps over-looked and underprivileged youth in Nashville by motivating them in school and in life, and Rocketown which provides a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for youth to enjoy concerts, classes, videogames and skateboarding.

Jeffrey Steele and family created the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Scholarship Program at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, in conjunction with Rocketown/Sixth Avenue Skate Park in Nashville, after Steele’s 13-year-old son passed away January 28, 2007 in a tragic accident. Steele and his family are very involved with this program, which has already made a significant impact on its participants.

This intimate event will include table seating, with a limited VIP section. VIP tables are $1500; remaining tables are $1000; limited single seats are available for $100 each. Wine and hors‘d oeuvres will be served. The event will also feature live and silent auctions.

This is the first of two events the LeVasseur family puts on each year in memory of Alex. The second is an outdoor skate and music festival, which is scheduled for June 2010.

Ghostland Observatory is not a band, but an agreement between two friends to create something that not only heals their beat-driven hearts, but pleases their rock ‘n roll souls. Gallery One is pleased to announce an exciting all media exhibition based on the theme -- A River. The benefit art show will lend support to the Harpeth River Watershed Association (HRWA), a non-profit organization devoted to the protection and stewardship of the Harpeth River. The juried art show features a wide variety of original representational and interpretative art developed by artists representing the gallery, including Rebecca Ruegger, Henry Isaacs, Patrick Adams, Deborah Fritts, and Lendon Noe, as well as new works by several artists new to the gallery. A portion of the proceeds from the benefit will be donated to the HRWA.

The call to artists expressly identified an excerpt from the novel, A River Runs Through It, and other stories, by Norman Maclean, as a source of inspiration for submitted works: "Eventually all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. Former Gaither Vocal Band singer Guy Penrod and the Annie Moses Band, a family ensemble who plays a blend of classical and contemporary, will be among the artists joining songstress Amy Grant for Lipscomb University's fifth annual Lighting of the Green concert on December 1. The Lipscomb student choruses will join Grant, emcee Lelan Statom, WTVF meteorologist, and additional musical guests such as Buddy Greene, a guitar pickin' singer/songwriter, to kick off the holiday season with a free outdoor concert in the Allen Arena Mall on the Lipscomb campus.

Additional festivities include a photo session with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus; thousands of Christmas lights including a 35-foot-tall Christmas tree; and The Branches of Love Hall of Christmas Trees displaying around 40 custom-decorated Christmas trees. Food from Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Blue Coast Burrito and Pizza Hut will be available for purchase. As a Lighting of the Green first, Lipscomb's children's theater program will present an original play, Wolf Calls and Pig Tales, a retelling of the Three Little Pigs nursery rhyme, at 4:00pm in Collins Alumni Auditorium. The cost is $5 per person. The event will also serve as a collection event for the Second Harvest Food Bank's Feeding Hope Challenge campaign to collect 300,000 pounds of food in just 30 days, beginning Dec. 1. Bringing lawn chairs and blankets is encouraged. Handicapped parking will be available in the Allen Arena parking garage.

In the '70s, Roy Clark symbolized country music in the U.S. and abroad. As one of the hosts of TV's Hee Haw for more than 20 years, Clark picked and sang and offered country corn to 30 million people weekly. He is first and foremost an entertainer, drawing crowds at venues as different as Las Vegas, Atlantic City and the Opry. His middle-of-the-road approach has filled a national void, with Clark offering country that was harder-edged than Kenny Rogers but softer and more accessible than Waylon Jennings.
