The Last Night of Ballyhoo takes place in Atlanta in December of 1939. Gone with the Wind is having its world premiere, and Hitler is invading Poland, but Atlanta's elitist German Jews are much more concerned with who is going to Ballyhoo, the social event of the season.

A Hard-Boiled Christmas is an all-new holiday revue featuring some of your favorite Boiler Room cast members, highlights from previous BRT holiday shows, sketch comedy, and tons of great holiday music.

Seating: House opens 30 minutes prior to show time. Seating is open, in other words, the early bird gets the better worm. We do not, however, oversell performances, so if you have a ticket, you will have a seat. Check the website for dinner and show package prices and for further details on the meal package with Saffire Restaurant.

In this sequel to the ever popular hit Smoke on the Mountain, the Sanders family returns to Mount Pleasant, NC home of the Mount Pleasant Pickle Factory. It's Christmas Eve, 1941. Reverend Oglethorpe has invited them to the Baptist Church to sing and witness, getting the congregation into the down home holiday spirit before the boys, including one of the Sanders' own, are shipped off to World War II. More than two dozen Christmas carols, many of them vintage hymns, and hilarious yuletide stories from the Sanders family keep the audience laughing, clapping and singing along with bluegrass Christmas favorites. Richly entertaining, this wildly infections musical brings cheer to audiences eager to see how their friends from Smoke on the Mountain have been getting along.

The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, proud, soft-spoken black man, Hoke Coleburn. At first, Daisy’s stubbornness and cultural prejudices cause much friction, but over the course of 25 years, Hoke becomes not only her chauffeur, but against all odds, her best friend.

James Goldman's historical play The Lion in Winter depicts the interpersonal relationships among members of the English royal family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day of the year 1183. The play is set in the castle of King Henry II of England, located in Chinon, in the English-ruled region of France. Goldman's screenplay adaptation of The Lion in Winter, which was released in 1968, won him an Academy Award. The Lion in Winter concerns the interpersonal dynamics and political wrangling of King Henry; his wife Eleanor, whom he has kept imprisoned in a tower for the past ten years; and their three sons, who are vying for the privilege of being named heir to the English throne. Eleanor, who has been let out of prison to celebrate Christmas with her family, favors Richard as heir, while Henry favors John. To complicate matters, the young King Philip II of France has arrived to remind Henry of a treaty he signed many years earlier, promising to marry his heir to Philip's sister Alais. However, Alais has been Henry's mistress for the past seven years, and Henry is hesitant to marry her off to any of his sons. The Lion in Winter explores themes of dysfunctional family, political maneuvering, war and peace, as well as aging, death, inheritance, and posterity.

In order to take away some of the mystery from the audition process, this workshop brings together the Artistic Directors from four of Nashville’s professional theatres—People’s Branch Theatre, Tennessee Repertory Theatre, Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre, and Nashville Shakespeare Festival to provide participants with a glimpse into the process. Participants will present a three-minute audition consisting of two contrasting monologues and receive immediate feedback from these directors—thoughts on the monologue choice; ideas for the actor on how to be considered for callbacks and casting; in general, what the directors look for in open call auditions. In addition to hearing other participants’ audition feedback, there will be a half-hour break midway through the master class to provide an opportunity for more informal discussion and networking.

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. Noises Off is a play within a play, in this case a dreadful comedy titled Nothing On - the type of play in which young girls run about in their underwear, old men drop their trousers and many doors continually open and shut. Nothing On is set in "a delightful 16th century possett mill" that has been converted to a modern dwelling for which renters are solicited; the fictional playwright is appropriately name Robin Housemonger. Each of the three acts of Noises Off contains a performance of the first act of Nothing On.

Rumpelstiltskin, the last of his kind, dances alone in the darkness before a leaping fire, casting a giant shadow on a craggy mountain face as he relates in ominous verse his plan to "find a child of my own to chase away the dark". Huddled around a fire in a primitive nomadic village, Uta conspires with his mother to swindle the king out of his yearly tribute by inventing a false prophecy that his daughter, Alana, would at the first full moon of each year, spin straw into gold. As Rumpelstiltskin peeks out from a nomad's tent, Alana is abducted by the king and his reluctant son, Marius, and taken to the king's castle, where she is sent to work spinning straw into gold. In the castle the mood lightens as romance blossoms between Alana and Marius and comedy reigns among the royal servants; Old Nanny, Cook, Birdy and her niece, Pigeon. Still, the rhyming Rumpelstiltskin is manipulating every step of the way, and there is always the underlying unease that he will appear and exact his dreadful payment.

Based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, a famous burlesque stripper, Gypsy tells the story of Rose, an overbearing stage mother who is determined to break into the big time by pushing the vaudeville career of her younger daughter June. However, unwilling to tolerate her mother's manipulations, June elopes with a dancer. Rose then turns all of her attention on her older and less talented daughter Louise. Eventually Rose's dreams come to fruition when she successfully transforms Louise into a famous burlesque stripper known as Gypsy Rose Lee. A young boy named Ralphie Parker only wants one thing for Christmas: a Red Ryder BB gun. However, he is not sure he will ever make it to Christmas, between his brother Randy and the school bully Scut Farkus. Whenever he tells someone how much he wants it, he/she tells him that he will shoot his eye out and refuses to get it for him. Even a department store Santa Claus tells him the same thing. After Ralphie gets a C+, he gets teased again by Scut. In response, Ralphie beats him very badly while cursing loudly. However, his parents do not get mad at him, and on Christmas morning, he gets the BB gun, since his father had one at that age. When he goes to try it out, the bullet ricochets and knocks off his glasses, which he accidentally steps upon while looking for them. He makes up a story about an icicle, and his parents believe him. In the end, a horde of dogs come in and steal the Christmas turkey, so his family goes out for “Chinese turkey,” or duck.

Lipscomb University's Theater Department presents Wolf Calls and Pig Tales, a re-telling of the Three Little Pigs nursery rhyme, Dec. 1-3, in Collins Alumni Auditorium on the Lipscomb campus. Wolf Calls and Pig Tales features a smorgasbord of animal costumes, non-stop action, and clever musical bits that illustrate there are two sides to every story. This 45-minute adaption was written by Lipscomb sophomore Rebecca Bennie and Lipscomb instructor Deb Holloway. After the Dec. 1 show, families can head over to the Allen Arena mall where Lighting of the Green offers free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, and a free outdoor holiday concert featuring Amy Grant, former Gaither Vocal Band member Guy Penrod and other local musical guests.
