The Ukedelics, A Popular Ice Queen, Guitar-Pick Making, Music Phone Bingo and More on Tap for CMA Fest.
CMA Music Festival takes over downtown Nashville this week, June 11-14, with star-studded concerts at LP Field, free concerts at Riverfront Park, on the plaza outside Bridgestone Arena and parking area in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. There are even concerts at the Carl Black Chevy dealership. There are concerts everywhere, all the time, in addition to dozens of events scattered throughout the city. Check our CMA Festival category page for a huge list of them. CMA Music Festival’s nod to the festival’s beginnings as Fan Fair is AT&T U-Verse Fan Fair X inside the Music City Center. That’s where autograph signings will take place along with more intimate performances and interviews with today’s country stars and even a few legends. In the KIDSVILLE section of Fan Fair X, there will be dozens of booths and vendors offering games and crafts and opportunities for the whole family to enjoy the festival together. The KIDSVILLE section will also help festival-goers connect more with the CMA Foundation’s focus on improving and sustaining music education programs everywhere while supporting worthwhile causes important to the Country Music Association. Many of the activities will be education focused.
KIDSVILLE is where NowPlayingNashville.com will be. Bring your kids and stop by our booth from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. everyday during the Festival. We’ll be offering a different crafts and experience for your kids to enjoy each day, including guitar and pick making, performances by the Ukulele collective, The Ukedelics, and an appearance by everyone’s favorite Ice Queen and Mermaid. I think you know who we’re talking about.
Listed below is our schedule for each day, so be sure to stop by and say hello. Tickets for Fan Fair X are $10 a day or $25 for a four-day pass. Buy yours now.
Thursday, June 11, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Presented with Kidsville):
Join us as we partner with our friends at Kidsville, a division of the Conservancy at the Parthenon, for music phone bingo, guitar-pick making and, of course, our popular temporary tattoos.
Friday, June 12, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Presented with Kidsville and Music for Seniors):
On Friday we partner again with Kidsville, and bring Music for Seniors along, to help us with a guitar-making project and ukulele demo for the kids. Music for Seniors will bring the acclaimed Ukulele collective, the Ukedelics, for a lunchtime performance from 1:00-2:30 p.m. The Ukedelics are Nashville’s premier ukulele band. Jazz standards and novelty confections vie with Hawaiian hits for your entertainment. These skilled Nashville musicians uke it up and keep everyone smiling. Friday’s performance will feature family-and-kid-friendly songs that everyone can join in on. Members include Todd Elgin, Andy Hudson, Tim Davies, Anita Moffatt, Jill Mothershed, Ted Nunes and Michael Timme. Sarah Martin McConnell is the founder and executive director of Music for Seniors. She will “sit-in” as an honorary Ukedelic. You and your kids won’t want to miss these exciting and fun musicians, creating sounds you probably didn’t think were possible, all from ukuleles.
