A saloon’s appearance varied from when and where it grew. As towns grew, the saloons became more refined. The bartender prided himself on his appearance and his drink pouring abilities. As Nashville grew, many hotels included saloons, and some stand –alone saloons similar to the original Silver Dollar Saloon in the late 1800’s to 1940’s.

The original Silver Dollar Saloon was located at 100 2nd avenue at the corner of Broadway. The original was designed by Julian G. Zwicker in 1893, it catered to the riverboat men coming up from the wharf at the foot of Broadway, which is now Riverfront Park. The saloon earned its name for the hundreds of silver dollars as decoration and in the floor which was formally the ground floor bar room. It has been a variety of businesses in the storied career, everything from a saloon, to a bookstore, to the now Rock Shop which is part of Hard Rock Café’s Gift Shop. The Gift shop today still has remnants of the original floor of the Silver Dollar Saloon.

The new Silver Dollar Saloon is located just down the street from the original on 2nd avenue and Broadway! We have taken Nashville’s oldest tradition and made it better. The new Silver Dollar Saloon is a tribute to Nashville’s History. We have based our new version in the times of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s when Nashville was moving into the industrial time period. A time when steamboats and railroads were the mode of shipment and trade with coal dust covering the streets. We have incorporated this old style with detailed dark wood furnishings, copper inlaid accents, steamboat décor, spittoons, dim lights, ice cold drinks, and authentic live entertainment that will have you coming back for more.
