Belle Meade Plantation

Belle Meade Plantation is a 30 acre historic site 6 miles west of Nashville. The centerpiece of the property is the Belle Meade mansion built in 1853. This Greek revival house was home to five generations of the Harding-Jackson family, original owners of the Belle Meade Farm. The plantation features an art gallery, tours of the estate, and rotating Living History activities such as storytelling, period dance, and demonstrations of 19th-century food preparation and blacksmithing.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm, Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm. Last tour starts at 4:00pm daily. Closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Admission: $16/Adult Ticket; $14/Seniors (65+); $10/Students (13-18 years old); $8/Youth (6-12 yeard old); Free/Kids 5 and Under; $45/Family Rate (includes 2 adults and up to 4 youths)

      I would not plan on attending this event again unless some changes are made. I hesitated initially at that $100 ticket price, but I had heard several radio spots several days before stating that the tickets were reduced to $50, but at the door a woman said 'that only went on for a few days' which I found misleading. Paying $100 per ticket, I would have certainly expected more. What I got was a diet coke in a dixie cup.( My friend and I had to ask for a plastic event cup which was not given up easily mind you.) Also, the food ran out so quickly and I was lucky to get barely a plate as it was only sparsely replenished. My drinking friends told me that they also ran out of tonic. All in all, I would say $25 for the event would have been adequate minus the cost of the services and I consider the rest to be merely a donation to the plantation as it's one of my favorite places in Nashville. On the plus side of the event- the valet parking service. Collapse

      I have seen Cheryl's photography at several venues, the Nashville Garden and Antique Show being the latest. Her work just speaks to me and brings me to tears every time. It takes me to early morning viewing of redbud trees on the Natchez Trace, to the lavender fields of Washington state, etc. Cheryl captures the mood of whatever scene she is taking. You feel you are standing at the location: old trucks, barns or pastoral scenes. Cheryl's work is Michelangelesque. Really! Collapse
