Artists' Cooperative Theatre (Act 1)

Artists' Cooperative Theatre (ACT 1) is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing theatrical gems - both classic and modern - to Nashville audiences. Now in its eighteenth season, ACT 1 has presented productions of more than 90 of the world's greatest plays. ACT 1 continually receives high praise from critics and audience members alike, and its productions and performers are recipients of multiple prizes and awards. ACT 1 performs in the intimate Darkhorse Theater, a space which offers state-of-the-art sound and lighting.

Price: $12/ticket; Free Admission for Students on Thursdays and Sundays.

      Driving to the Dark Horse, Sting's "Roxanne" kept going through my mind. Then, the play started. I was captivated by one of the most astonishing troupe of actors ever put together on a Nashville stage--or any stage. Rarely does one find such meticulous direction with a cast that measured to the highest standards of the theater. Top to bottom, it just doesn't get any better, any where, any time. If one misses this production, one has truly missed a performance of a lifetime. Collapse

      I saw this on opening weekend and absolutely LOVED IT!!! This cast is so, so funny (especially Daniel Sadler in his musical roles and Matthew Scott Baxter as Thomas - don't take your eyes off him... Expand

      I saw this on opening weekend and absolutely LOVED IT!!! This cast is so, so funny (especially Daniel Sadler in his musical roles and Matthew Scott Baxter as Thomas - don't take your eyes off him because he'll have you rolling with laughter) and works so well together (the impromptu opera between Angelique and Cleante is adorable) and the Dark Horse is always a neat venue to take in live theater. I'm recomminding this to all my friends because it's the only show I've ever seen that is at once so ridiculous and clever by plot alone but also able to supplement it with random sheep and musical numbers. And the costumes are FABULOUS! Collapse
