The history and origin of Cheekwood are intimately interwoven with the growth of Nashville, the Maxwell House coffee brand and the Cheeks, one of the city's early entrepreneurial families. The history and origin of Cheekwood are intimately interwoven with the growth of Nashville, the Maxwell House coffee brand and the Cheeks, one of the city's early entrepreneurial families. Leslie and Mabel Cheek moved into the mansion in January 1933. In the 1950's the site was offered as a botanical garden and art museum. The development of the property was spearheaded by the Exchange Club of Nashville, the Horticultural Society of Middle Tennessee and many other civic groups. The Nashville Museum of Art donated its permanent collections and proceeds from the sale of its building to the effort. The new Cheekwood opened to the public in 1960.
Please note: Stay Late 'Til Eight From May 1 through September 30, Cheekwood is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night until 8:00pm, with special programs for the entire family on Thursdays in June and July! Come and experience Cheekwood in the evening!
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 9:30am-4:30pm, Sunday 11:00am-4:30pm, CLOSED Monday, except Memorial Day and Labor Day, CLOSED Thanksgiving, Christmas, NewYear's Day and the second Saturday in June.
Prices: $10/Adults, $8/Seniors (65 +), $5/Youth (6 - 17), College Students w/ ID and Active Military Personnel w/ID, Free/Children ages 5 and Under, $30/Household Cap
