Circle Players, Inc.

Circle Players, Inc. began in 1949, when an ambitious group of volunteer actors, directors, producers, designers, and stage hands founded the company on a stock-ownership basis. The leadership decided Circle Players, Inc. would best operate as a state-charted 501-C-3, non-profit arts organization in the mid-1950's. This completely volunteer-staffed organization, which includes Artist Members and the Board of Directors, operated for 26 years in the basement of what is now the Blue Bird Café on Hillsboro Road. In 1980, Circle Players, Inc.became the first resident company in the brand new Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC), and presented productions in TPAC's Johnson Theatre through 2004. Circle Players, Inc. continues to provide quality productions in a variety of theatre locations.

      This Willy Wonka production is a wonderfully fresh, visually thrilling, and wildly entertaining musical meant for pretty much anyone between the ages of 5 and 100. The script, adapted from Roald Dahl's famous story,is hilarious, yet meaningful and should be enjoyable for anyone who loves a good story. I highly recommend it, having seen the invited dress rehearsal before opening night on October 14. Collapse

      This should be an interesting production by the creator of the original FAME musical/movie. David De Silva has become a huge supporter of community theatre and approached Circle Players to suggest putting on FAME FOREVER, the sequel to the original. De Silva will be in town to attend Opening Night and a post show Gala. Everyone is welcome to purchase tickets to either or both! The show will take place at MTSU's Tucker theatre, a beautifully renovated venue... Collapse

      One more weekend left of this play, don't miss it. Amazing talented young adults, Delaney Amatrudo that plays Patrice could be on Broadway with her voice and acting skills, Great job by lead role Christina Redden, mic cut out at times, but he was great. Noah Rice acting/singing top-notch. Blown away by this young group of kids. Only downside, wish the Circle Players stayed in their old theatre, hard to see stage/actors in the theatre.       This was our first show at the the Keeton Theater in Donelson. Not at all pleased with the venue which doesn't have stadium seating so we spent too much time bobbing our heads to get a better look. We also missed a lot of dialogue due to poor sound.       I never got a chance to read the book or watch the movie so seeing this play was the best of both. I was taken in immediately. Great story, great cast. I recommend this play to everyone!!

      Great production. This is one of my all-time favorite stories. I commend those children for having the nerve to be in a production, let alone being able to memorize so much. I do wish, however, that they had had a little more rehearsal time, especially since their parts were key to the show. Don't get me wrong, they did a wonderful job, but it could have been a little better with just a touch more rehearsal. I know that their performing skills will improve over time. All in all, it was a good show! Collapse
