Nestled in the beautiful riverboat community of Granville is the Granville Museum. Stroll through the museum's military, school and music rooms. Enjoy a ten minute video on the history of Granville, a genealogy collection, a great pictorial display of Granville's history as well as historical items from homes, businesses, schools and the community.

The non-profit Granville Museum's mission is to create and maintain records of rural Granville, Tennessee and closely related areas in order to share its unique story with present and future generations. This story includes, but is not limited to, a rich river boat history, strong agricultural ties, World War II maneuvers, small town life, a diverse musical history, and detailed genealogy. We sponsor annual festivals and on-going cultural and artistic events utilizing our two facilities, the Granville Museum and the Sutton General Store, drawing thousands of visitors to the area each year thus having a positive economic impact on the community. Our programs serve a diverse population of varied ages, backgrounds, cultures, and knowledge levels.

      We had heard about Sutton General Store in Granville (now the Granville Museum), where Sutton Ole Time Music Hour happens every Saturday night. We knew we wanted to try the great home cookin' there at the store, and hear some old-time string band music. We struck gold! We entered the white-painted store/museum and were overwhelmed by the sights, the sounds of the band warming up, and the smells of something really good back in the kitchen. Dinner was served to about 60 hungry folks in a side room which once served as the "feed room," so as I think of it now, I suppose it is still the feed room. Family-style seating,the meal was a meat and three (or four or more), with rolls, tea, and dessert. It was divine! We loosened our belts and made our way back to the room The Galley Nippers old-time string band were warmed up and ready to perform, first just for us,for a live radio audience listening in surrounding towns. Sutton Ole Time Music Hour is a must for your travel itinerary! Collapse
