Jazz rocker (SFWeekly) singer/songwriter/instrumentalist, Ben Graves, represents an eclectic history of musical experience; in high school in rural Tennessee he was a neo-folk/classical guitarist, a jazz saxophonist, and the lead singer in a band that would become the platinum-selling hard rock outfit Fuel. From 1996 to 2003, he honed his craft, recording 2 original Cds and performing his original music in many of the Bay Area’s hippest venues: the Fillmore, Great American Music Hall, Cafe du Nord, the Hotel Utah, Freight and Salvage, Sweetwater, and many others. In 2003, he moved to Nashville, where he worked as a sideman with country artists Rebecca Lynn Howard, James Otto, Amy Dalley, and others. He spent most of 2005 doing administrative work for the New York Philharmonic in Manhattan and taking part in the New York scene before returning to Nashville, where he remains active as a session musician, performing songwriter, sideman, and educator. Alex Stern is a singer and songwriter whose lyrics and melodies create a pop/country fusion all her own. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alex grew up proud of her Southwestern roots. Raised on her parents favorite classic 70’s records, she developed a love for music early on. At the age of nine she begged her parents to let her take voice lessons and started performing in community theatre and on every stage she could find. She continued to enter local talent shows and at the end of high school she was selected to attend both Grammy Camp LA & Nashville. Little did she know, after attending Grammy Camp Nashville, a year later she would spread her roots to move to Tennessee. After taking time to solely devote to songwriting and honing in on her sound, her purpose and artistry has never shined brighter than it does today. She’s ready to prove her fearlessness and authenticity with the release of “Runaways” her newest single off her debut EP “Midnight Bandits” on Spotify & iTunes. Source: Ticketweb [less-]

Brandi Carlile is headed to a series of intimate venues to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of "The Story" and will be playing the entire album acoustically from start to finish! Since her heralded, genre-defying 2005 Columbia debut, Carlile and her indispensable collaborators, Tim and Phil Hanseroth, aka The Twins, have always offered listeners both control and abandon, often within a single song. The most well-known Brandi Carlile tunes, 2007’s “The Story” and 2012’s “That Wasn’t Me,” are dynamic journeys in themselves, encompassing myriad emotions and varied stylistic touches; “The Story” morphs from understated balladry to epic stadium rock, while “That Wasn’t Me” effortlessly straddles country soul and pop gospel. Infused with Carlile’s clarion voice, The Twins’ tight sibling harmonies, and stellar musicianship from everyone, it all simply sounds like Brandi Carlile. Source: TicketFly [less-]

He is joined by bassist, Michael Rhodes, and pianist/keyboardist, Kevin McKendree. Source: Submitted [less-]

Peter Mayer is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, touring musician and recording artist in Nashville, Tennessee. With his unique writing style, distinctive voice and virtuoso musicianship, Mayer creates compelling and soulful music for an electrifying live performance. Mayer has released 13 albums to date and tours year round with the Peter Mayer Group. He is the lead guitarist in Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and has shared the stage with a variety of artists such as James Taylor, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Ringo Starr. As a young child in Tamilnadu India (where his parents were Lutheran Missionaries), Peter Mayer had a passion for music. Drawing musical influence from his upbringing, Mayer’s music evokes melodic notes such as music and lyrics of The Beatles, traditional Indian music, church hymns and jazz standards. After moving back to the United States, he went on to study formal theory and composition and taught jazz guitar as a faculty member at Webster University. In 1988, Mayer released his debut album for Warner Brothers Records with the group PM. Working with producer Elliott Scheiner (Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Hornsby) – this album produced the single “Piece of Paradise,” charting to number eight on Billboard. Mayer began touring with Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer band in 1988 as lead guitarist, a position that he holds to this day. He regularly tours with his own bands, including The Peter Mayer Group, The Peter Mayer trio and Peter Mayer’s Songs of Faith. [less-]

[less-]
