Harpeth Woods Trail

Part of the Warner Parks trail system, this hike combines human and natural history as it loops through the Harpeth Hills, a collection of ridges southwest of downtown Nashville. First, the Harpeth Woods Trail follows a portion of the old Natchez Trace before visiting a long abandoned rock quarry in the Little Harpeth River Valley. It then climbs a knob, passing some old growth trees before descending back along a small stream to once again pick up the old trace. This loop makes a great hike for those who don’t want to spend their entire day driving to and from the trailhead and offers an escape into the forest and a day’s worth of exercise.
