THE ODD COUPLE by NEIL SIMON
Presented by Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre
Simon's play centers on a pair of desperately mismatched roommates--one sloppy and one neat--who are arguably the most memorable pair of characters that the successful playwright has ever written. Felix Ungar, a neurotic fusspot news writer, and Oscar Madison, a slovenly sports journalist. The laughs are non-stop in this classic hit from one of America’s greatest comedy writers.

Heaven Can Wait
Presented by Steeple Players Community Theatre at Steeple Players Community Theatre
Mr. Jordan is checking passengers who are to depart in an airplane for the Hereafter. The routine is interrupted by the arrival of Joe Pendleton, an attractive prizefighter, who refuses to admit he is dead and induces Jordan to look up the "records," which reveal that Joe is not scheduled to arrive for another 60 years! But, as Joe starts to return to earth to continue his fighting, word reaches Heaven that Max Levene, Joe's manager, thinking he had been killed, had Joe's body cremated, and Joe has no body to return to. Jordan promises to find Joe another body and is informed that the wealthy Jonathan Farnsworth is about to be murdered by his wife. So Joe suddenly finds himself in the home of the financier, visible as Joe to the audience but apparently as Farnsworth to Mrs. Farnsworth, and the public. The comedy begins when the pompous "Farnsworth" unaccountably goes into training as a fighter. In addition, "Farnsworth" decides to share his wealth and right the wrong "he" did to charming Bette Logan's father. Bette, having despised Farnsworth, finds herself falling in love with him and he with her. Just as Joe (still in Farnsworth's body) is about to get a chance to become a fighter, Jordan reports that Farnsworth does not approve of Joe's treatment of his body (and money) and is raising a fuss to have it back. While deciding on another body for Joe, Jordan receives a flash that K.O. Murdock, the champion, has been mysteriously shot. As K.O. is about to be counted out Jordan transfers Joe's spirit into the body of K.O. in time to have K.O. remain champ. There are still problems to be straightened out when Joe really becomes Murdock and loses memory of his previous existence—including Bette. Fortunately they meet and fall in love again—and Mr. Jordan is free to head for the Hereafter, his earthly task accomplished.

Boom by Peter Sinn Nachtreib
Presented by Actors Bridge Ensemble at Belmont University - Black Box Theatre in Troutt Theatre Complex
Directed By Mitch Massaro; Featuring the SIDESHOW Ensemble
Jules, a grad student in marine biology, and Jo, a journalism student, meet one Saturday night in Jules’s small underground laboratory on a university campus, after Jo answers Jules’s online personal ad offering an encounter that promises “to change the course of the world.” During his research on a deserted tropical island, Jules discovered patterns among the behavior of fish that seemed to portend a premature end to most forms of earthly life. So he has turned his tiny lab/apartment into a place to wait out the disaster and begin remaking humanity. A third character, Barbara, is the audience's guide in her portrayal of the end of civilization thousands of years earlier.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Presented by The Larry Keeton Theatre at The Larry Keeton Theatre
"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written-the perfect escape from life's troubles. A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.

SAY GOODNIGHT, GRACIE
Presented by Street Theatre Company at Street Theatre
Tom Wolfe described the 1970s as the “Me Decade.” In the aftermath of the 1960s sexual revolution, the 70s brought an increase in pre-marital sex, divorce rates and single parent households. This turbulent era is captured in this play about a generation at a turning point in 1976. Five 28-year-olds planning to attend their 10-year high school reunion gather in an East Village, New York City, apartment to discuss their dreams, insecurities and pasts. As they while away the hours reminiscing and smoking pot, their conversation becomes funnier-and more revealing-as the smoke thickens, and they try to figure out what to do with their lives as they approach age 30.

PARALLEL LIVES
Presented by Street Theatre Company at Street Theatre
In the opening scene, two Supreme Beings plan the beginning of the world with the relish of two slightly sadistic suburban wives decorating a living room. Once they've decided on the color scheme of the races, a little concerned that white people will feel slighted being such a boring color, they create sex and the sexes. Afraid women will have too many advantages, the Beings decide to make childbirth painful and to give men enormous egos as compensation. From this moment, the audience is whisked through an outrageous universe, where two actresses play men and women struggling through the common rituals of modern life: teenagers on a date, sisters at their grandmother's funeral, a man and a woman together in a country-western bar. With boundless humor, PARALLEL LIVES reexamines the ongoing quest to find parity and love in a contest handicapped by capricious gods—or in this case, goddesses.

Pippin
Presented by Boiler Room Theatre at Boiler Room Theatre
Once upon a time, the young prince Pippin longed to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. He sought it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, he found it in the simple pleasures of home and family.
This hip, tongue-in-cheek, anachronistic fairy tale captivated Broadway audiences and continues to appeal to the young at heart everywhere (the show has become a staple on high school and college campuses). The energetic pop-influenced score by three-time Oscar®-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz (“Godspell,” “Children of Eden” and the animated films “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” and “The Prince Of Egypt”) bursts with one showstopping number after another, from soaring ballads to infectious dance numbers.

Presented by Towne Centre Theatre at Towne Centre Theatre
by Tom Stoppard
Rave reviews greeted this masterpiece of farce when it was recently revived in London. Feuding theatre critics Birdboot and Moon, the first a fusty philanderer and the second a pompous and vindictive second stringer, are swept into the whodunit they are viewing. In the hilarious spoof of Agatha-Christie-like melodramas that follows, the body under the sofa proves to be the missing link. As mists rise about isolated Muldoon Manor, Moon and Birdboot become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman.

Steel Magnolias
Presented by Boiler Room Theatre at Boiler Room Theatre
A first play which met with immediate critical and popular acceptance in its premier production by New York's WPA Theatre. Concerned with a group of gossipy southern ladies in a small-town beauty parlor, the play is alternately hilarious and touchin -- and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic banter of its characters. "Harling has given his women sharp, funny dialogue…The play builds to a conclusion that is deeply moving." -- NY Daily News. "…a skillfully crafted, lovingly evoked picture of eccentricity in the small-town South…Robert Harling is a new voice in the theatre and the qualities of STEEL MAGNOLIAS suggest he may be an important one." -- Drama-Logue. "…suffused with humor and tinged with tragedy." --NY Post.

CAROLINE, OR CHANGE
Presented by Street Theatre Company at Street Theatre
Set in 1963 Louisiana, Caroline, or Change centers its action on the Gellman family and their African-American maid, Caroline, who is drifting through her life, nearly paralyzed by her circumstances - a single mother of four working in a service job to a white family. She spends her days in the basement laundry room with an afternoon visit from the young Gellman son, Noah, who is just as isolated upstairs in his home as Caroline is downstairs. The thunder of the civil rights movement and John F. Kennedy's death is distant, yet reverberates deeply through the script, provoking all characters to see their lives in a new light and either embrace or reject the larger social changes that are in motion. Caroline ultimately must choose between continuing on as her proud self and her family's welfare. Does she, or doesn't she?

The tragic, true story of the trial and lynching of a man wrongly accused of murder is brought to emotional and theatrical life by acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry ("Driving Miss Daisy") and Jason Robert Brown, one of Broadway's most promising young composers ("Songs For A New World").
In 1913, Leo Frank, a Brooklyn-raised Jew living in Georgia, is put on trial for the murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan, a factory worker under his employ. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him, a sensationalist publisher and a janitor's false testimony seal Leo's fate. Youth Production: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S MIDTERM
Presented by Street Theatre Company at Street Theatre
As four high school friends gather to cram for a midterm on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the play comes to life before their eyes... literally! The story unfolds before the teens, as Lysander and Demetrius compete for Hermia's attention and Helena attempts to capture Demetrius's attention. When the faeries and Bottom and his players show up, the students work even harder to understand this delightfully convoluted story. Their insightful comments on Shakespeare's language, his characterization of women and men and even his relevance to today's world add even more fun. All the plot, all the wit and all the magic of one of the Bard's most popular plays is presented here along with light-hearted commentary! A Shakespeare play that everyone can understand and enjoy!

Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge is a playful, cracked look at the perennial Dickens Christmas classic about mean Ebenezer Scrooge and his discovering the true meaning of Christmas through the visitation of Three Ghosts. In Duran's giddy version, the Ghost's magic is off, and Scrooge and the Ghost keep showing up at Bob Cratchit’s house way too early, where Mrs. Bob Cratchit – a long suffering saint in the Dickens – is in a state of fury, hating her life and planning on getting drunk and jumping off the London Bridge.

A Year With Frog and Toad
Presented by Boiler Room Theatre at Boiler Room Theatre
Arnold Lobel's well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale's musical A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD. Conceived by Mr. Lobel's daughter, Adrianne Lobel, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.
