A Country Christmas at Gaylord Opryland Resort has been a Nashville tradition for nearly four decades. The exciting lineup of fan-favorite activities, all-new experiences, and live shows from award-winning performers make it a one-of-a-kind holiday celebration for all ages. This year promises continued holiday magic throughout the entire resort, there’s So. Much. Christmas. to discover.
For the first time this Christmas, guests will journey into Buddy the Elf’s world to help save the holiday in an all-new, multi-sensory, Gaylord Hotels Original Experience, Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf™. Featuring 12 fun, interactive challenges, visitors will work to muster enough Christmas spirit to power the Kringle 3000 and Santa’s sleigh. Activities include a journey through the candy cane forest, working to stay ahead of the toy quota in the North Pole in a digital game, creating a crazy cookie recipe using the four main food groups, and taking part in an epic “snowball” fight in Central Park.
After completing their mission to save Christmas, guests can head outdoors to Pinetop and sip on hot chocolate to keep warm while experiencing ice activities in all their forms. Visitors can enjoy a yuletide glide on the 9,000 square-foot ice skating rink. For those new to the sport, lessons are available. Those looking for a thrill can climb to the top of the four-lane, 15-foot-tall ice tubing slopes for a ride combining all the fun of sledding with the speed of sliding ice. Back by popular demand, guests can slide, spin, and bump their friends and family in ice bumper cars. For those who prefer to spectate, champion ice skaters will perform a complimentary show on the rink for all to enjoy.
For guests who would like to experience more live entertainment, GRAMMY® Award-winning and Country Music Hall of Fame members, The Oak Ridge Boys, will celebrate the holiday season with a 31-show residency at Gaylord Opryland. The Christmas in Tennessee Dinner Show will feature a delicious holiday meal prepared by the resort’s culinary team followed by the Oaks and their band performing Christmas classics, new favorites, and many of the timeless hits that have shaped their legendary career.
Throughout the resort, visitors can explore nine acres of beautifully decorated garden atriums by completing a holiday scavenger hunt, take part in classic holiday activities like photos with Santa, gingerbread decorating, or enjoy any of the other dozens of activities offered. In addition to seasonal festivities, the resort’s premier aquatic attraction, SoundWaves, is open year-round and offers an 84-degree, indoor oasis that still allows guests to soak in the sun over the holidays.
