Aaron Doenges

Sitting on the bench in front of an abbreviated spinet, Aaron Hoke Doenges started down his musical path before his feet could reach the piano pedals. Doenges continued my piano study up until college where he began his formal composition education. Since then, Doenges has continued my musical studies at The Contemporary Music Center on Martha’s Vineyard, Universität Potsdam, Germany, and Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he received his Master of Music in Composition. He uses music to explore the world around him through listening, writing and musical experimentation, searching for sounds, melodies, and information that can be pieced together in ways to provoke thought and dialog. He is currently working on a Master of Theology degree at Vanderbilt University exploring the exchanges that happen between art, technology and divinity. Doenges' compositional work has recently shifted from fixed media to interactive and generative installations exploring the impact of mass amounts of micro pieces of data. "I feel as though it is important to explore the themes of life around us, and I find it hard to ignore the prevalence of electronics and digital monitoring [both voluntary and involuntary]," he says. Primarily utilizing Max/MSP and Ableton Live, Doenges attempts to find ways to combine bits of data, the environment and interactivity to highlight both the tangible and intangible that are both experienced and ignored every day.

Stefan Forbus

Saxophonist Stefan Forbus is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. Forbus is a graduate of Tennessee State University where he studied Music. During his matriculation at TSU, Forbus has performed with the Aristocrat of Bands, Jazz Combo, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Collegians, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Orchestra, and Saxophone Quartet. These opportunities gave him the chance to play a wide variety of music at many venues. Forbus began performing outside of school at his home church, Lee Chapel AME, during his middle school years. There he performed with choirs at church services and concerts. Church members began to hire Forbus to perform for weddings and other social events. This led to many performance opportunities for him around Nashville. After Forbus’s ninth grade year of school, his family moved to Hoover, AL, where he graduated from Hoover High School. There Forbus’s love for music and live performance grew stronger. While at Hoover High School, Forbus was exposed to great music educators who encouraged his aspirations. Forbus performed with the marching band, concert band, symphonic band, as well as Hoover Jam and First Edition Jazz bands. With an abundance of jazz history and resources a few miles away in Birmingham, AL, Forbus had the opportunity to attend weekly jazz workshops at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. There Forbus was able to learn and develop basic jazz styles and techniques from excellent jazz instructors. The AJHoF provided a great environment for jazz education, exploration, and performance. St. Paul AME Church, became another church home where Forbus found a very similar situation to that of Nashville, that influenced him. During the three years there Forbus performed at church services, and continued to be hired for social events. Currently Forbus performs with his own cover band, as well as an R&B group that specializes in music from the sixties, seventies, and eighties called “The Melting Pot”. Some weeknights Forbus can be seen with Andy Doziers blues band “Conductor Kelly and the Underground Railroad” as saxophonist. Forbus can also be seen in performance every Sunday at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, where he plays the saxophone at 10 AM service. Forbus specializes in Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Blues, and Neo-Soul. His greatest influences are Gerald Albright, Charlie Parker, Kirk Whalum, Mike Philips, and John Coltrane. The love for music and drive for success motivate Forbus to continue his journey. As Forbus strives for his own musical personality through his evolving style and technique, listeners are drawn to his sound.

Kurt Kirton

Musician: Electronic; Singer; Songwriter

In an era of remixes saturating multiple channels—from mainstream music media to clubs and bars—some can only stomach dance music as part of the nightlife experience. For others, it's living and breathing. Kurt Kirton is one of the latter. A former small town boy from central Mississippi, he cut his teeth on the smooth grooves of the 70s and the synth-infused 80s. While both decades were musically unique, the early 90s produced a fast-evolving genre in the US that had first taken flight in Europe. It was then that Kirton’s love of dance/club music was born. After stepping back from music for 5 years to work on other projects, he’s at it again with new full release, Bang the Drums. “I always seem to have these long gaps between working on music,” Kurt laughs. “This last time it was mainly because it took several years to write, design, and market my book (2015’s Here Today, Hired Tomorrow). It was one of the most difficult projects I’ve ever undertaken.” Kirton wanted to use his experience and expertise career best practices to encourage and help those in transition have a better more efficient road map to success. “It’s been so invigorating though getting back into music—to rub elbows and talk music with other artists. Setting up a home recording studio has given me more control and the ability to take my music to a new level.” And leveled up he has. Of the new record’s 12 cuts, 10 were written by Kirton. “Two are derivative works, meaning I kept the melody of the original but wrote new lyrics. Two are straight up cover songs, and the rest I wrote. You may see a theme among several of them: relationships I’ve had in the past few years factored in. Pain and frustration can be such an inspiration for songwriting.” Inevitable is still Kirton at the helm—producing, writing, recording, and singing on the majority of the songs with guest vocalists and programmers along the way. Kurt has an enduring passion and knack for covering hooky melodic lesser known tracks as well as writing his own original material—a formula that's proven successful. Kirton teamed up with Chilean trance artist X-Way (Samuel Iglesias) and close friend Jason Beetz to arrange the tracks on this new album. Iglesias also programmed and mixed two songs. “‘Hot Time in the City’ was the first Inevitable single. I figured it was a solid enough song to deserve a remix, and he did a bang-up job on that!” “Putting a full Inevitable album together is a long painstaking process, so it’s nice to finally get to this point. To have every song be at the level I want as far as quality and production, it took longer than I had hoped, but it shows in what listeners will hear. I want every song to be as catchy and compelling as possible—no filler or throwaway tracks!” “Electronic music on pop radio has changed since the early 2010’s. You won’t hear much clubby stuff today, but there’s an electronica edge to some of the pop out there now. A couple of my new tracks are this style. But, as typical for my music, upbeat songs make up the majority of the Bang the Drums album,” he says with a grin. Inevitable's mission remains: Produce compelling, energetic electronic music that moves the spirit and feet of listeners—domestic or international—and to just have fun and enjoy the creative process along the way. Chris McMurtry

Chris McMurtry is a composer who is intent on 'saving' great music. While he writes for a wide range of ensembles, his compositions are generally written from the perspective of the electric guitar. "Petitions," featuring the Trevecca Madrigalians, was released via Refinersfire in June 2014.

Adara Music

The intergalactic, electronic pop of Adara will teleport you to a neighboring galaxy for a dance party on a steamy spaceship. These fun, catchy anthems bounce from star to star in style with sparkling synths and the sonorous sounds of Adara's voice as co-pilot. As a crossover electronic/pop artist out of Nashville, Adara has released songs on various labels including Universal, Armada, enhanced, and Sony. Her latest collaboration is "saveMe" with successful DJ Duo, Adventure Club. She also has her hands in the fashion world, working with Designer, Kat Gaume, to create customized outfits inspired by her love of outer space. With support from major DJs including the Chainsmokers, Ferry Corsten, and Paul Oakenfold, Adara is on her way to becoming the next leading lady of electronic music. Her latest release is "Oasis". Shueh-li Ong

Shueh-li Ong is an Aussie-born Singapore Thereminist, Synth player, Composer/Songwriter and Producer. The Daily Vault U.S.A said, “It is abundantly clear that Ong has many talents, a gift for sound, and the potential for greatness.” ThereminVox Italy, “An inspired artist who has brought fresh ideas in the theremin field.” Shueh-li was a student of Tristram Cary (co-founder EMS London), and Jeff Pressing (author of a monthly synth-technique series in Keyboard magazine). She studied piano and electronic music/music tech, with “Interactive Multimedia Performance Systems” as her area of research. This involved 2D-3D computer animation, generative music and extended synth techniques in live virtuosic performance. Currently residing in Nashville TN, Shueh-li presents an annual concert at the Steinway Piano Gallery, and also manages show design alliance, Electric Muse, for collaborative work. Shueh-li tours solo or with synthpop band, Xenovibes, and is often found at EM or ProgRock gigs. Shueh-li has produced four albums from her home studio to date, her arrangements creating sometimes poignant ballads other times luscious instrumentals. Shueh-li has also tracked theremin for an indie sci-fi film, a contemporary classical work, and albums from several rock bands. Artists whom Shueh-li has recorded on her albums &/or worked with on her shows include : Chris Currell (M.J.’s BAD tour/album), Dean Parks (Steely Dan), Curtis Randall (LeAnne Rimes), Tom Brislin (YES) and Eric Struthers (A Neville Quartet).

Javier Rivas

A long time resident to Nashville Javier Rivas is the founder of Fantasman Records, an indie label based in Tennessee, a member of ASCAP as publisher and writer. Past experience include Theatre play, Film soundtracks and jingles for TV and Radio. Exavier is an all original music writer, influenced by music from the 60s to the present time and a pioner on guitar synthesis. His compositions include a wide variety of genres that range from Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin and electronic guitar defined as Sci-Fi Rock.
