Morgan C. Allred

Morgan Christopher Allred is a mixed heritage Kansan that was born on an Army base in El Paso, TX. He has performed spoken word poetry for four years now and has been writing much longer. In Kansas, he was previously the host/organizer/promoter of 3 poetry related events: That Sound Downtown, Slambonanza and End Iron Rhymes, as well as host of the Access Television show, Froze In Poetic Prose. Here, in Nashville, he hosts Po'Boys & Poets every third Saturday at the Peach Cobbler Factory. Having performed all across Kansas, Missouri and now Tennessee he has been able to work and create with a multitude of artists and their respective mediums. His work in promotion/organization has allowed him to work directly with non-profits like NAACP (Salina), Equality Kansas, Concert Across America and Poetry Outloud as well as organize shows sponsored by Salina's Arts and Humanities.

Sarah Arace

Sarah Arace is an artist of assorted expressions including drawing, painting, chalk art and mixed media. Her passion stems from personal experiences of overcoming adversity and learning to embrace and appreciate her own imperfections. Her creative inspiration was born from her experiences of a young girl raised in Huntington, West Virginia, and becoming a single mother at 16 years of age. She appreciates the opportunity to use her passion to inspire and empower others through her artwork. Sarah resides in Nashville, TN with her husband and two dogs and is currently working on two series. “Masked heroes” portraits in watercolor formed around essential workers, is her first series. The second, called “HER,” is an expressionistic style of favorite body parts from a group of women who have positively influenced and inspired Sarah throughout her journey.

Well I am 30 years old. Dad of three girls and have lived in TN. All my life. Started creating art for others when I was just a kid. I am a artist for a living but I have to be good at alot of it just to get by so I do many forms or art. Painting, drawing, woodworking, murals, signs and much more. I have made the SOKY happening mag. For there featured artist. I now mostly paint murals. But hope one day to just be able to teach it.

Mary Gwyn Bowen

Mary Gwyn Bowen is an artist, registered nurse and art educator. In her art, she focuses on the beauty and color of nature. Whether it is the mystery of Reelfoot Lake's unique earthquake formation or the magic of the flowers remembered from her grandmother's gardens, nature provides a wealth of inspiration for her art. She has also developed a unique version of cubism focusing on the dynamic play of colors blending together. As a registered nurse, Mary Gwyn researches and teaches about art’s role in healthcare. Mary Gwyn obtained a degree in nursing from Excelsior College, Albany, NY and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. She has a Master of Arts in Art Education from the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL and has attended the University of Florida's Arts in Medicine (AIM) Intensive. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA), the National Art Education Association (NAEA). She received the Cecil Wallace Fordham Award for the Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas. Mary Gwyn is a former fellow in the Evidence Based Nursing Practice Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she completed a research project using art in the cardiac rehabilitation process. The Art to Heart Research Project was published in MEDSURG Nursing, a journal of the Society of Medical Surgical Nurses in the September/October 2015 issue. She has presented a poster of the Art to Heart Research Project at Nursing Research Day at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, at the Tennessee Hospital Association's annual conference, and to the University Hospital Consortium annual conference, 2014 in Atlanta, GA. She teaches Botanical Watercolor Painting and a workshop, Artists in Healthcare, at Watkins College of Art, Design and Film in Nashville, TN. Her art has shown in festivals, galleries, and is in private collections. A native Tennessean, originally from Dyersburg in West Tennessee, Mary Gwyn now makes her home just outside of Nashville.

Artist, Musician, Visionary, Community Organizer, Peace Facilitator, Nature Guide Pet Caricature Artist Dina Rae Capitani has been drawing doodles of dogs since she was a child as a way to connect to the feeling of love and joy dogs bring to her heart. In 2005 she began drawing both dogs and cats and painting custom pet caricatures on t-shirts and canvas and developed an original line of doggie and kitty caricature art with corresponding captions representing over 100 different breeds, mutts and kitties reproduced on various products such as refrigerator magnets, t-shirts, cards and more, and sold at fairs, festivals, pet retail and gift stores throughout the United States. From 2005-2009, Dina had a kiosk at the factory in Franklin where she painted and sold her Doggie Doodles by Dina product line. She also sold her unique magnets through over 20 pet retail stores nationwide. In, 2007 and 2008, Dina won runner for “Best Pet Artist” in Nashville Paw Magazine’ Reader’s Choice Awards. In 2011, Dina entered into an agreement where 79 of her Doggie Doodle Designs were licensed for distribution on various products worldwide. In 2012, eleven Doggie Doodles were featured on t-shirts for the cast readings of “It’s A Ruff Life” musical by Jessie Goldberg and Gene Levine performed at Z. Alexander Looby Theater, Nashville, TN. Dina’s custom hand-painted pet portraits continue to bring smiles to pet lovers everywhere. Musician/Songwriter Dina’s love for music began as a teenager and has been a source of creativity and inspiration ever since. She studied voice at Belmont University, where she began writing songs and learning to play the guitar. She is a firm believer of the power of music to connect, to heal, to inspire and to build community and enjoys performing for a specific cause. She performs at variety of venues including coffeehouses, clubs, festivals, senior centers. Her musical style is eclectic and ranges from jazz, folk, rock, global and sacred. She has two self-produced albums, Wake Yourself Up, 2005 and Covers For Lovers, 2012. In 2014, she co-wrote and recorded “The Compassion Games Theme Song,” a song that has being used to promote the International Compassion Games. While with Metro Dina helped Nashville earn international recognition as a “Compassionate City,” through various creative initiatives including organizing Nashville’s participation in the International Compassion Games (where cities compete on reported acts of kindness, number of dollars raised for nonprofits, number of volunteers, hours and people served); Writing and Recording the Compassion Games Theme Song(which is being used worldwide to promote the Compassion Games); and organizing and hosting a monthly “Cultivating Compassion” series at Scarritt Bennett Center which featured music, community guest speakers and round table discussions on best practices around compassion. In 2012, Dina co-created and hosted the Compassionate Coffeehouse, a revolving monthly open-mic conducted in various Metro Nashville community centers, churches, parks, art galleries in various different neighborhoods, whose purpose was to bring the community together in a creative forum where people were invited to express themselves through art, music and poetry with the theme of Compassion . Nature Guide, Mind/Body Connector and Mindfulness Educator, Dina has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 17 years and in her own personal journey of healing and transformation she has discovered the healing and transforming power yoga, meditation, nature and the arts and their individual and collective ability to connect people to their heart and their humanity. Artistically and creatively, religion, philosophy, science, science fiction, evolution, humans and animals, astronomy and the cosmos rev up my imagination. Dramatic skies, amazing weather events, geological treasures, and fantastic landscapes intrigue me. Being a nature lover, things natural make their way into my depictions whether imaginary or real. I engage in symbolism or meanings and values in many of my works. Sometimes I create a piece that represents a saying. I use expression and impression as well as gestural and sometimes abstract styles and methods. I often leave something to the imagination, or hide something in it. Mostly, I seek to present art that is uplifting and beautiful which in some way will be a benefit and a blessing to you. I hope you enjoy my artwork!

Sharon Charney

Sharon Charney was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She began studying art at an early age and went on to major in painting at Carnegie Mellon University. There she studied with Lawrence Calcagno and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She continued her art studies at the University of Wisconsin, studying with abstract expressionist Milton Resnick, and earning a master's degree. Her first solo exhibition was in Madison, Wisconsin. She has had numerous exhibitions over the past forty years, including shows at the Metro Nashville International Airport, The Tennessee Performing Arts Center and The Parthenon in Nashville. In addition to local exhibitions, she has participated in national and regional juried exhibitions. Her paintings are in many corporate and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Michael Cooper

I am in my 25th year of painting murals professionally. My mission as an artist is to enrich the experience of public spaces through the creative and imaginative use of color, texture and storytelling, enhanced with whimsical applications of trompe l’oeil. I believe that public art, as well as art in public spaces, has the power to create a connection to the people it touches. My projects have ranged from painting small residential rooms to trompe l’oeil designs on multi-story buildings, to creating faux stone finishes on miles of highway retaining walls. Budgets have run from hundreds of dollars to just under a million. I am extremely comfortable working with project architects and designers, understanding the concerns and limitations of their professions. I am just as relaxed at working in a pristine museum-quality space as I am working on buildings in the construction phase. And I truly love working with the public!

Diamonds are stones of spiritual, physical, and psychic sight. They are used to see the unknown, reach visionary states in meditation, and see the best course of action. Diamonds reflect all colors of the rainbow and are often used to connect the link between heart and higher consciousness. It is also a symbol of unity and commitment. Our individual and joint creative process echoes the symbolism associated with the diamond. Yvette Renée and Mark not only create art from a spiritual connection, but both hold fine art degrees from Watkins College of Art & Design and The University of Tennessee. Combined, they have over 40 years of experience in various areas of the arts including painting, stained glass, metal sculpture design, and teaching as well as completing artist residencies throughout the state of Tennessee. Both are natives of Nashville and currently live and create here in Hendersonville, TN.

My name is Emily Crockett, I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Nashville to pursue my dream in becoming a full time artist. Growing up I was always fascinated by art that surrounded me where I lived, whether it was down town graffiti to paintings in a small cafe. When I realized how much I love art and painting I took mostly every type of art class you could think of both in and out of school. I excel in a range of genres- anywhere from colorful abstract, acrylic paintings to realistic drawings. When I do realistic drawings and occasionally paintings I capture the features as well as the moods and personalities. When I do abstract paintings that have charismatic color with an innate sense of rythem; it truly has an impact on viewers by making them feel some type of way through each and every painting. Thomas Ehlts

I was born and raised in Iowa, and began writing songs in my early teens. I have serious influences in blues, classic rock, and instrumental guitar. Having been been a front man most of my performing life, I always sought to come back to my love of songwriting. My early influences started with the classic rock sounds of the late sixties and early seventies; bands like Bad Company, the Allman Brothers and the guitar legends of that era. It’s a path I decided to pursue and one that would eventually lead me to Nashville, TN. I embarked with a pocketful of songs and a profound desire to live the dream.

Garland Fulghum

Garland Fulghum is a primarily self taught impressionist painter and portraitist whose studio is near Nashville, Tennessee. Raised in Southern California and Hawaii, he grew up amid the simple elegance of Spanish architecture and tall palms, always close to the ocean and the scent of saltwater. Museum visits and old Spanish Churches were a constant entertainment and source of awe. To stand where people of centuries past had stood always gave a sense of connection, wonder and mystery which fired the imagination on many levels. The visits to libraries and an occasional art gallery filled in gaps and a wall full of portraits offered insight and questions in a rich vein-This person was on the other side of this canvas…who was painting? To draw, to give a dimensional illusion on a flat piece of paper had a particular appeal and has always been practiced on a regular basis. Learning to see subtle value shifts in those early lessons are still a part of the work today. But as Monet said, “Colour is my day-long obsession...”. Garland's work is presently available in Nashville thru his studio or Midtown Gallery.

Grace Goad

Grace Walker Goad was diagnosed with moderately severe autism with intellectual disAbilities and severe speech/language disorder at just under age three, in 1997, and has been painting since she was four. Because autism subtly affects the muscle tone of her hand grasp, her work is largely abstract. Yet, her advanced use of color and composition has been lauded and featured on the 2007 autism episode of ABC’s “The View;” on the cover of The American Journal of Psychiatry; the cover of the book, Making Sense of Autism; and in The Art of Autism: 2012 Edition, as well as newspapers, magazines and online media. Her work is in the Tennessee Arts Commission’s permanent artists’ collection managed at the Tennessee State Museum. She has exhibited in Washington, D.C., New York City, North Carolina and the Massachusetts’ Berkshires and is represented by HeART of the Spectrum Art Center in Seattle and sells her work at Shimai Pottery and Gifts and Tennessee Art League in Nashville, among other locations. “GraceArt” is in the private collections of a number of individuals including NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino and former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, MD, and can be found online at www.GraceGoad.com.
