Well I am 30 years old. Dad of three girls and have lived in TN. All my life. Started creating art for others when I was just a kid. I am a artist for a living but I have to be good at alot of it just to get by so I do many forms or art. Painting, drawing, woodworking, murals, signs and much more. I have made the SOKY happening mag. For there featured artist. I now mostly paint murals. But hope one day to just be able to teach it.

I combine precious metals, hand etched glass, gems and gemstones to create fine artisan jewelry that makes a statement. My work is bold, expressive and filled with texture. I want you to be enticed to look at the design and investigate the detailed work involved, to touch it and discover its texture, personality and beauty. ARTIST BIO A jewelry artist since 1999, I am mostly self taught, but I have taken workshops from some of the nation’s finest jewelry artist. I’m not always as disciplined as I should be. I hardly ever read all the directions or follow a pattern. I take an inspiration and the materials and start to work intuitively, working until I get a something I like. Techniques include metalsmithing, wire wrapping, soldering, wire weaving, precious metal clays and polymer clays. My collections are shown throughout the South East and West Coast in galleries and boutiques, as well as fine are shows. I also teach jewelry design and fabrication. This allows me to connect with kindred spirits, sharing positive energy and learning from every student. Teaching has helped me to evolve and develop as artist. Each new technique I learn is an opportunity to share the excitement. My students are talented, hungry jewelry artists who are always excited to go to the next level. It feeds my spirit to see them develop as premier, respected jewelry artists. Best known today for his monumental Athena Parthenos, the largest indoor statue in the western world, Alan LeQuire began his artistic career at the age of eleven, when he first began to make objects in tin and copper. By the end of his high school years LeQuire was concentrating principally on sculpture, but at Vanderbilt University he studied English literature and art history rather than studio art. Though he had experimented considerably with abstract sculpture, in his early twenties he felt an increasing dissatisfaction with the arid, cerebral quality of contemporary abstraction. His effort to educate himself in some other fashion led to an apprenticeship to Milton Hebald, an American sculptor living in Italy. With guidance from Hebald and master craftsmen of Italian bronze foundries, he discovered both practical and philosophical approaches to figurative sculpture, which were on the verge of being lost altogether from modern artistic intelligence. At Hebald's establishment in the Roman campagna, he experienced a version of pastoral in some ways similar to what he'd known during his childhood in the American South. Returning to the United States, LeQuire completed the Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, where he continued to study figurative sculpture with Peter Agostini. Within a year of his 1981 graduation, he competed and won the commission to recreate for the Parthenon in Nashville the lost Athena Parthenos by fifth-century Greek sculptor, Pheidias. Over the eight years it took to complete, the Athena project became the most difficult, challenging and rewarding commission any figurative sculptor could hope for - and hope to survive. This work required LeQuire to expand his knowledge of materials and sculpting techniques, and to greatly broaden and deepen his knowledge of classical mythology. The unveiling of Athena Parthenos in 1990 made LeQuire a celebrity and figure of controversy throughout Tennessee, and attracted favorable notice from classical scholars, archaeologists, and art critics nationwide, along with articles in Artnews and the New York Times Magazine. While working on Athena Parthenos, LeQuire supported himself with commissions, both portraits and larger projects. Since his time in Italy, he continues to be a swift, strikingly accurate and extremely popular portrait artist. His portrait heads combine the energy, expressiveness and apparent mobility of a quick sketch with the permanence of bronze. His larger commissions usually retain some element of portraiture (even Athena Parthenos carries in her ornamentation some portraits of the artist and his assistants), and are based in some way upon the human figure. His non-commissioned work is also figurative, often inspired by works of the past, but thoroughly contemporary, both in terms of style and subject matter. Like the classical and Renaissance artists to whom he has directly apprenticed himself, Alan LeQuire believes that the human figure is the single artistic subject to which all viewers inevitably respond. Like his forebears he is especially concerned with the relation of humanity to the world it inhabits. For him, the world is meaningful, and the human figure serves as the primary carrier of meaning. Because of this inner quality as much as its outward appearance, his work is a radical departure from most contemporary art. I found my extreme love for metals after completing my degree in Textiles,Design, and Merchandising at MTSU. Hammering, pleating, pounding, manipulating, texturizing, and coloring metals for wearable works of art is what I do. Leather, gemstones and found objects are often inserted in an abstract or practical way to add distinction to the esthetics in which I love. A little about myself: I am primarily a painter using mediums in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media but I also enjoy photography; all with a focus in abstracts and landscapes. For my abstract works, I enjoy a deep, usually personal experience to portray my vision, yet at the same time I try to let the viewer have their own experience. My wife and are avid travelers and outdoors people and as such, much of the inspiration behind my landscape works comes from our past travels, hikes, etc. This is also true as well of travels, events, etc. with family and friends over the past twenty years. As of October 2013, I have been building and stretching my own canvases by hand and building the decorative finishing frames. By doing so, I want to give you the assurance that the piece you purchase has been 100% completed by hand from start to finish. I have worked in the retail fashion arena all of my career. In 1992, journeyed back to my artistic beginnings when I began jewelry fabrication instruction to provide an artistic outlet. What began as a passing fancy became a job as an artisan bench jeweler and metalsmith at Margaret Ellis Jewelry. In 1994, I opened my own metals studio producing limited edition and one-of-a-kind art jewelry. Since opening the studio, I have completed a BFA in Metals and Jewelry at the Appalachain Center for Craft and continue to actively seek instruction from leaders in the field of metalsmithing to further hone my skills and techniques.
