Carolyn German

Carolyn German has been a theater professional for over 35 years, having worked as an actor, director, lyricist, producer, playwright,  corporate trainer and teaching artist.
For seven years, Carolyn was at the helm of the Music and Theater Departments for Metro Nashville Parks Cultural Arts, where she was the Managing Artistic Director of the Z.Alexander Looby Theater, and created the Centennial Black Box Theater.
German’s work as a playwright has been commissioned by the Tennessee Arts Commission,  and  TPAC Education, as well as the Clement Railroad Museum.  One of the resulting pieces, her one-man historical play “Burden of Justice:1863” has been booked for three separate tours (2013, ’14 & ’15) into area schools through Tennessee Performing Art Center Education and Outreach. Other shows she has produced for TPAC Ed include “The Story Builders”, which was also written and directed by Ms. German. In fact, her production of “The Story Builders” was subsequently honored as “Best Production of 2003” by theater critic Kevin Nance of The Tennessean.

Other writing credits include her critically-acclaimed “MOSAIC”, and the historical biography of a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement, “Signs of a New Day: The Z Alexander Looby Story”. German is also a prolific composer and lyricist.

Her performance credits span from Off-Broadway to cruise ships, with a wide variety of stages in between, including DC’s Studio Theater, and over 25 projects with Tenness
