Jairo Prado

A native of Colombia, South America, Jairo Prado has lived and worked as an artist in Nashville for twenty-eight years, creating commissioned works and exhibiting nationally and internationally. His current work in progress, "Migration," is a large-scale mosaic mural commissioned by Conexion Americas, to be unveiled December 2012 at Nashville’s new Casa Azafran Community Center. His work has also been selected for permanent display at Nashville’s new convention center, the Music City Center, opening in 2013. His solo exhibitions include the Leu Gallery at Belmont University in 2010, as well as, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2008. Juried exhibitions include the Biennial Best of Tennessee Craft Artists at the Hunter Museum of American Art. Other local exhibitions include the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission, the Nashville International Airport, and the Tennessee Art Commission Gallery. His work can be found in public and private collections including the Tennessee State Museum, Belmont University, Watkins College of Art, and University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Prado has also been an educator to the community, sharing his passion for art with youth and adults through local and national universities, community-based organizations, and arts institutes, including Watkins College of Art, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, and Conexion Americas.
