Artist Biography A self-taught artist, Lori Anne Parker first began painting in 2003 while living in Binghamton, New York, where she had her first solo show in early 2004, which was well received. Later that year, Lori Anne relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. Since then, she has participated in group shows with Plowhaus Artists’ Cooperative, Chromatics Gallery, Ruby Green Studios, and other organizations. Since 2008, she has also organized solo exhibitions at the Nashville Ballet, Rumours Wine and Art Bar, Twist Etc. Gallery, and other locations. In 2012, she recieved a 2012-2013 Innovation Grant from Vanderbilt University’s Curb Creative Campus for her Identity Sculptures Project, a public art project combining writing and sculpture. A collaboration between Lori Anne and faculty, staff, and student writers from the Vanderbilt community, the project will culminate in an on-campus exhibition from March 15 through June 15, 2013, at the Sarratt Student Center, followed by a showing at the Stevenson Science and Engineering Library through September. Lori Anne’s images can be found on the CD covers, Web site, and professional marketing materials of acoustic fingerstyle guitarist John Danley. Lori Anne received her Ph.D. in philosophy, specializing in aesthetics and literary theory, from Binghamton University, Binghamton, New York, in 2010.
