Maggie Szabo

Chosen Artist of the Month + one of the top 3 Most Fascinating Female Artists of the Year, Maggie sounds like no one else. Maggie’s voice is young and fresh yet evokes the smoke and grit of someone who has lived long and hard. Since moving to Nashville a year ago she has gathered an audience of die-hard fans and garnered critical acclaim. When Maggie Szabo headed out Nashville, the Dundas singer told friends and family that she’d be back home in two weeks. Now, more than a year later, she’s stopped predicting when — or if — she’ll be moving to Dundas. She’s teamed up with a producer, who has faith in her talent as both a singer and a songwriter. She’s formed a band, recorded a slick six-song record, hired a manager and performed two shows at New York’s fabled Bitter End night club, as well as countless appearances at Nashville night spots. In Nashville, Szabo caught the attention of producer-songwriter Tanya Leah, who has worked with Wynonna Judd, Michelle Wright and American Idol contestant Melinda Doolittle. Leah’s husband, Arnie Roman, has written songs for Celine Dion, Cher and Kenny Chesney. Leah liked Szabo’s sound. Leah worked with Szabo on her songwriting and then put together a top-flight band for some studio sessions. The band included guitarist Chris Rodriquez, who has worked extensively with A-list artists Keith Urban and Kenny Loggins. The result is a highly polished record featuring six tracks, four of them cowritten by Szabo. Listen to Maggie at www
