William Sizwe Herring is a Detroit native who became a devotee of Dr. George W. Carver when he attended Tuskegee University in 1978. He has been involved in the performing arts since 1975 and travelled throughout Michigan in summerstock theatre. In 1977 he became a member of the Internatiional Thespian Society. At Tuskegee he directed his first play “Sorry, Wrong Number” and travelled with several plays including dinner theatre in Montgomery, AL.
Sizwe founded EarthMattersTN in 1996 and has used the creative is to educate youth and adults about the Earth, sustainability, “waste” management and creating a peaceful, resilient community.Sizwe has created huge, living land sculpture with hundreds of people and composting, organic matter. He has produced large, professional, artistic and musical events at the many gardens and beautification projects he created throughout Nashville.
Outside of EarthMatters Sizwe has been a featured spoken word performer at the Annual African Street Festival (est. attendance 40,000 people) in Nashville.
