Thandiwe Shiphrah

Thandiwe Shiphrah recites poems that you can dance to and she has been playfully using rhythm as a teaching tool for more than two decades. A multidisciplinary artist and arts program consultant, she designs presentations for a variety of community based settings and conducts in-school residencies and assemblies. She also works to ensure equitable access to the arts and derives great joy from helping others learn to express themselves with freedom and authenticity, often using poetry as the catalyst. Thandiwe has performed on university campuses and in performance venues across the country, both as a solo artist and with her long-time collaborator musician/composer Daniel Arite.  They are known professionally as The Bosch Institute. Her poetry has been published in anthologies, journals, and magazines; on public radio and internet podcasts; and on public transit in two cities. She is a resident artist and former board member of Global Education Center and an approved Tennessee Arts Commission Teaching Artist.
